From the Editor | The Real “Story Behind the Story”

Those words appear in the first part of “Minneapolis Mayhem: Prelude to Civil War?” our main cover-story article by William F. Jasper. The article delivers. So do the other related articles in this issue.

We are all familiar with the story as portrayed through the lens of the liberal media: A great American city and its environs were besieged by legions of ICE agents who created chaos in a state known for its friendliness. In their zeal to enforce immigration laws, ICE tore families apart, arrested American citizens, instilled fear in the community, trampled upon the right to protest, and even killed (as of this writing) two of the protesters.

On the other hand, many conservatives view the story differently. ICE agents need to be able to carry out their sworn duties, but their ability to do so has been impeded by “protesters” who have gone beyond peaceful protesting to interfering with ICE operations, thereby creating a tense and dangerous situation for themselves, the ICE agents, and even the criminal aliens the agents are targeting for arrest. Under the guise of peaceful protest, agitators have threatened, stalked, and hurt ICE agents; put up barricades in the streets; and invaded a church service.
