Somalis in Minnesota Perpetrated “Industrial-scale” Fraud
AT A GLANCE
• Somali couriers have carried hundreds of millions of dollars in cash out of the United States since Tim Walz became Minnesota governor.
• Millions of dollars have been fraudulently transferred from Minnesota taxpayers to the Islamic terrorist group Al-Shabaab.
• Somalis have set up multiple sophisticated fraud schemes for stealing and laundering money from government sources, including child nutrition programs and Medicaid.
• Immigration fraud is also rampant in the Somali community.
Americans who want to see the consequences of uncontrolled welfare spending and unfettered Third World immigration should look closely at Minnesota, notably Minneapolis, the center of the Somali welfare-fraud scandal that broke after the first of the year.
The invaders from the Horn of Africa have robbed myriad programs subsidized by not only Minnesota’s, but also federal taxpayers. One juicy target was the “free” food money the government passed out as Covid-19 subsidies. Other targets include autism, daycare, housing, and medical transportation subsidies.
The total stolen is at least $18 billion since 2018, in what a federal prosecutor called “industrial-scale” fraud. And the fraud, federal and state legislators know, began long before then, perhaps as early as 2009.
