2A for Today | Having Lethal Power Is a Mark of Freedom
Outside the United States, most of the Western world generally thinks it’s crazy that regular American citizens are allowed to own firearms. The “civilized” Anglosphere sees this as a sign of backwardness, a feature of societal lunacy, an indication of a wild civilization akin to a herd of Neanderthals who supposedly ran around clubbing each other at the first offensive grunt. They mock our ways with a blend of confidence and ignorance.
The “civilized” people of the West have been conditioned to believe that because criminals use guns to unjustly kill their victims, the remedy is to ensure that those who would become their victims do not have equally lethal means to protect themselves. They think that only government officials should have guns. This, of course, is an irrational line of thinking, and it’s just one of many.
These views are, for the most part, shared by America’s anti-gun Left. But no matter how many people believe this, it remains naïve and ignorant. I will point out just three glaring holes in these arguments.
