Woman’s Lawsuit Over “Sex-change” Operation Could Save Others From Similar Disfigurement

“After we launched my lawsuit last year, there has been an explosion of both detransitioners and their lawsuits all over the country,” said Chloe Cole in a press release issued late last week, announcing her lawsuit against the hospitals and physicians who she argues “coerced” her to transition from a girl to a “boy.” The lawsuit argues the surgery was perpetrated upon her, motivated by profit rather than any concern for her. Although only Cole is involved in this particular lawsuit, she and the plaintiffs hope it will spawn multiple, similar suits that will cause hospitals and physicians to stop their surgeries, and save others from her horrible fate.

“I am going forward in taking legal action because every second that goes by, more blood is spilled by the same individuals and medical centers that destroyed my body and childhood,” Cole said.

Cole’s attorneys, led by the Center for American Liberty, claim that the doctors lied to Cole and her parents in a number of ways, including telling her that her gender dysphoria (the belief that one is of another sex rather than one’s physical sex) would never be cured and that if she did not undergo the transition from a girl to a boy, both socially and medically, she was at a high risk for suicide. Cole’s attorneys argue that these lies constitute fraud, and because of the sex-change surgery, which included a double mastectomy — the removal of healthy female breasts — she would be cursed with a “lifetime of irreversible physical and psychological damage.”

According to attorney Harmeet Dhillon, “Chloe’s family sought medical treatment for her at Kaiser.” Therefore the lawsuit is against the Permanente Medical Group, the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, and Kaiser Foundation Hospitals, all of which were involved in the performance of, supervision of, and advisement for the transgender hormone therapy and surgical work for Cole when she was a minor.

Dhillon added, “Her physicians and other medical professionals violated the first norm of the profession, the Hippocratic Oath, when, instead of caring for her and providing medically competent diagnoses and treatment, they permanently disfigured her for profit. What happened to Chloe at Kaiser should never happen to any child in America, and the Center for American Liberty is committed to protecting children like Chloe.”

While American Liberty is committed to protecting children like Chloe from what they consider to be the greed of medical giants like Kaiser, Kaiser expressed on its website that it clearly favors the types of surgeries that Chloe Cole says caused “irreversible physical and psychological damage.” The website states, “Kaiser Permanente is proud to be recognized for the 12th time in a row by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, which awarded us the highest possible score on its Healthcare Equality Index and gave all 39 of our hospitals the LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality Leader designation.”

Cole was first exposed to gender transitioning ideology online when she was 11 years old. After creating an Instagram account, she began receiving a great amount of LGBTQ content.

She said that her earlier diagnoses of autism and ADHD at age seven are “common comorbidities with gender dysphoria.” When she was 12, she told her parents that she identified as a boy, and a year later she was prescribed Lupron, a puberty blocker. She received testosterone injections for the next couple of years, and then, at age 15, had her breasts removed.

Soon after the double mastectomy, she began to regret it, began using her birth name, and “de-transitioned.” Upon realizing that there were many others who were considering such action, she became an activist against gender-transitioning procedures upon minors, appearing on Fox News and testifying against “gender-affirming care” before legislative bodies. For example, she has supported a bill introduced in Wyoming by state Senator Anthony Bouchard that would revoke the licenses of doctors who advise gender-transitioning to minors. Bouchard expressed concern that many schools and physicians pressure parents to allow a child to undergo transition procedures, and that he would make such procedures a form of felony child abuse.

As is typical of the tactics of the Left on this and many other issues, they do not wish to allow those like Cole, who oppose transgender surgeries, to have a forum to advocate for their position. When a panel of the Heritage Foundation featured Cole earlier this year, pro-transgender protesters demanded the hotel cancel the event.

It is instructive to compare the difference in how this issue (allowing minors to undergo life-altering mutilation of their bodies) has been treated differently by the mainstream media, the government, and the medical establishment than alternative treatments for Covid. In contrast to minors like Cole, adults were often denied perfectly safe medicines like hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin to treat Covid, and physicians and pharmacists were threatened with job termination, delicensing, and the like simply for providing them.

Even in a worst-case scenario, hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin — medicines that are relatively inexpensive and have been safely used for many years — would simply do little to no good in treating Covid. More than one medical professional told me that the ban on the off-label use of hydroxychloroquine was the first time they had ever experienced such a ban. One told me, “Doctors prescribe medicines off-label all the time.” Despite media propaganda to the contrary, thousands of Americans credited both medications with mitigating the Covid virus.

Yet, if a child wishes to have his testicles or her breasts surgically removed, that should be allowed, despite these being life-altering and irrevocable decisions. In stark contrast, while schools can recommend such “transitioning” to children, they need parental permission to even provide an aspirin for a minor child.

Hopefully, this and other lawsuits that are multiplying around the country will provide a financial disincentive for hospitals and physicians to counter the financial incentives they presently enjoy to mutilate children.
