City Is “Lost”: Pastor Warns of Sharia in Dearborn — and Irish Language Need Not Apply

As the erasure of Western culture continues apace, two stories from the past week stand out. One involves a black Christian pastor in Dearborn, Michigan, who warned that “we have lost this city” to Sharia law. The second concerns a Nigerian-born “racism czar” in Ireland who just told the Irish to stop emphasizing their “Irish” language (She meant Gaelic.)

As to the first story, Dearborn, Michigan, is no longer your granddad’s Midwestern American city. A European-heritage locale 100 years ago, it’s now majority Arab and heavily Muslim. And if you ask Pastor Lorenzo Sewell, it shows, too. As Fox News reported last Thursday:

What started as a regularly scheduled town hall in Dearborn, Michigan, erupted into a flashpoint over the influence of Muslim culture in American civic life Tuesday as the pastor of a local church accused the town of operating under Sharia law.

“America, we have lost this city. This is a city that is no longer up under American laws; we are up under Sharia law. We will not have it anymore,” Lorenzo Sewell, the pastor of 180 Church, said.

“Enough is enough.”

The outburst, which came amid a series of other anti-Islam protests in Dearborn, vocalizes fears that Muslim populations in Michigan are working to bring their communities more in line with their religious worldview, views Sewell believes are at odds with the vast majority of the country.

“You are only 1% of this nation. We are not a nation of Muslims,” Sewell said.

Sewell’s references to the implementation of Sharia law don’t refer to actual legislation looking to codify Muslim religious practices. Instead, they’re based on what he sees as a form of favoritism applied unevenly to Muslims in the name of religious freedom.

As to specifics, The Christian Post wrote yesterday:

Sewell and other critics of the city point to a case in which Muslim counterprotesters allegedly faced light consequences for assaulting Jake Lang, a local political activist. “You are not up under American law. You are up under Sharia law. That is the reason why you have made no arrests,” Sewell said, referring to the incident.

Lang calls himself a defender of American culture rooted in his Christian faith.

… Lang’s opposition became a physical confrontation earlier this month when he protested at Dearborn’s Arbaeen March, a Shiite Muslim religious commemoration. In one video, he was punched from behind while holding a sign that read “deport 100 million, save America.”

Muslim counterprotesters chased Lang to his car, and at least one person tried to hit him with a rock, according to video Lang posted online.

In fairness, Dearborn police did arrest one person involved, the Post informs. They’ve also requested help identifying other perpetrators. The question is, however: Does this reflect law-enforcement due diligence?

Or is it merely an effort at creating plausible deniability?

After all, this isn’t the first time Dearborn officials have been accused of anti-Christian bias and facilitating Islamization. Late last year, a journalist named Cam Higby told city councilmen that he was pepper-sprayed and robbed, and had equipment destroyed, at a Dearborn “Americans Against Islamification” rally. The police, however, would do nothing.

“I feel like a dhimmi, a second-class citizen,” Higby told the politicians. And this “is what Christians are in the majority of Muslim countries.”

Reacting to this, ex-Muslim and journalist Hedieh Mirahmadi warned that it does actually reflect a larger agenda. She said it was part of a “civilizational jihad” that replaced Islamists’ military-conquest strategy, which had failed. This “new plan,” she explained, “was to expand through demographics, exploit Western religious freedom, and pursue political power from within.”

Are Irish Eyes Still Smiling?

Speaking of which brings us to one Dr. Ebun Joseph, Ireland’s government-appointed Special Rapporteur on Racial Equality and Racism. And what qualifies the Nigerian immigrant, who arrived on the Emerald Isle in 2002, to hold this esteemed position? She has a PhD in Equality Studies, bestowed by the School of Social Justice at University College Dublin. No foolin’.

Anyway, Joseph made news recently on her podcast, The DEeP Table, during a discussion titled “Reimagining Ireland.” (That’s as reassuring as a mafia extortionist saying he wants to reimagine your income.) Among her prescriptions was, “We need teachers who don’t have to speak Irish.”

“I think [that’s] one that really needs to go, please, please, please let it go,” she said in a Nigerian accent reminiscent of someone right off the boat.

She wasn’t satisfied, though, with instructing the Irish to de-emphasize their native language. “We have inherited this island,” she also asserted, referencing immigrants. Well, that’s a bit cheeky, as the Brits say (video below).

Commenting on this, anti-woke Scottish comedian Leo Kearse noted an irony, writing that

the same Irish nationalists who fought to keep Ireland Irish — Sinn Féin, Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael — support this woman. These supposed nationalists who fought against British influence in Ireland now want Ireland to be subsumed by third world immigration, to the point that Irish culture and language is erased.

Brits out, Eritreans in.

As to who’s mainly to blame, Kearse fashionably fingers “British wokeism.” Yet while it’s man’s nature to externalize, the bottom line was related well by commentator Bill Ponton on Monday. To wit:

Jean Raspail got it right in The Camp of the Saints (1973), a political allegory about mass migration, Western guilt, and the collapse of a society’s willingness to defend its own institutions and identity. Raspail’s argument is that a civilization can destroy itself when it ceases to believe that it has a legitimate right to preserve its borders, culture, and way of life. In Raspail’s telling, the decisive weakness comes from inside the culture rather than from the migrants themselves.

Ponton also states that the Western man’s emasculation invited this problem. He then wrote:

With woke women and eunuchs in charge, everyone else is along for the ride. One that includes inviting in and providing for everyone in the third world who can make their way to your shore.

It’s a tenable theory. Note here that upon conquering a tribe ages ago, the invaders might kill all the males over a certain age. Emasculate a society, and it’s easily subdued. This also works if you just kill the males emotionally, neutering their hearts and minds.

Whatever the case, it doesn’t seem like equality when every country has a right to its culture — except Western countries. But what do I know? I don’t have an Equality Studies PhD from the School of Social Justice.
