Exposing the Con-Con Con
The Con of the Con-Con, by Andy Biggs, Appleton, Wisconsin: Western Islands, 2025 edition, 144 pages, paperback.
In an era when constitutional fidelity is treated as an inconvenience rather than a sacred oath to be obeyed, the Republic owes a debt of gratitude to U.S. Representative Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) for writing, and to Western Islands Publishing for reviving, The Con of the Con-Con — a timely and unflinching warning against the seductive call for an Article V convention to “fix” our Constitution.
Biggs originally penned this work during Barack Obama’s presidency, when federal overreach had reached an intolerable pitch. Yet his insights have proven prophetic, for the disease has worsened under successive administrations of both parties. In the new Foreword, Biggs reflects that “the Biden Administration was filled with more weaponization of federal institutions than at any time in American history,” a statement that is less lamentation than diagnosis. His continued mistrust of Washington is not partisan cynicism; it is the realism of a statesman who has witnessed the metastasis of centralized power from the inside.
