If conservative Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene spoke at a Proud Boys gathering, or better yet, a meeting of the Ku Klux Klan, we’d never hear the end of it.

Incendiary tweets would set her Twitter feed aflame.

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.) would call for her to be expelled from Congress.

MSNBC’s Morning Joe Scaraborough would get the vapors, and collapse into a crying jag on wife and cohost Mika Brzezinski’s sympathetic shoulder.

But let Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) speak at an awards ceremony staged by the Connecticut chapter of the Communist Party USA, and all we get is bupkus.

Crickets.

Silence.

For the modern Democrat Party, collusion with communists isn’t just forgiven. It’s expected. That explains why the party uses Antifa and Black Lives Matter street thugs as enforcers of party orthodoxy, which is now openly socialist if not Marxist; i.e., communist.

Amistad Award

Blumenthal, who lied about fighting communism in Vietnam as a U.S. Marine, appeared in front of the worthies of the Connecticut People’s World Committee, a chapter of the CPUSA.

“I am really excited and honored to be with you today and share in this remarkable occasion,” he said:

You don’t have to agree with anyone or everyone, with any party or any particular union or organization. I’m here to honor the great tradition of activism and standing up for individual workers that is represented by the three honorees.

Forgetting what he said about those honorees, Blumenthal added, “we need to make good trouble in the tradition of [late Rep.] John Lewis” of Georgia.

Blumenthal joined himself at the hip with the Nutmeg State Reds to fight those who oppose letting anyone with a pulse cast a vote. He meant Republicans:

Our opponents are trying to restrict democracy, they are threatening the right to vote in state after state, in congressional district after congressional district all around the country.

No, “our opponents” want to stop Democrats from stealing elections.

Anyway, the wealthiest man in the Senate, worth some $100 million — a little less than a dollar for every human being murdered by communist tyrants — also unbosomed the usual eyewash about “economic justice” and “racial equity,” and he wants to hold “corporations accountable for the basic treatment of the American people. We need to look at our entire tax system, beginning with Build Back Better.”

But the event wasn’t just an awards ceremony at which Blumenthal offered his kudos. It was also a Communist Party recruiting endeavor. One of the Reds invited the gullible to join:

We invite you to join the Communist Party in this epic time as we make good trouble to uproot systemic racism, retool the war economy, tax the rich, address climate change, secure voting rights and create a new socialist system that puts people, peace and planet before profits.

In other words, Blumenthal was their recruiting poster. Message: We have access to a U.S. senator.

Gulags Coming

Of course, Blumenthal opened his remarks by seemingly disavowing his hosts, a tactic that wouldn’t work for Greene or any other conservative were they to speak for a controversial group on the Right.

That aside, the last two years have proven that Democrats are increasingly sympathetic to open socialists, Marxists, and communists in their ranks.

Recall that Project Veritas released undercover recordings of socialist Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign staffers who promised gulags and guillotines for their enemies, not least rich Republicans, if he won the presidency.

Democrats ignored it. So did Sanders.

Now this: A U.S. senator says he’s honored to speak before his state’s communists. The stated goal of the Communist Party has always been to overthrow the democratically elected government of the United States and replace it with a totalitarian dictatorship. Of course, now that communists can call themselves Democrats, they can vote and legislate their way into power.

Either way, the truth about Blumenthal is out. Like Representative Bennie Thompson, chieftain of the select committee investigating the mostly peaceful protest at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, the senator is an insurrectionist sympathizer.

Maybe Greene hit the right note in a tweet about Representative Adam Schiff, the leftist who represents California’s 28th congressional district.

“1. We must remove Adam Schiff from Congress,” she wrote:

It’s not enough to take him off committees.

He has heinously abused power & LIED repeatedly to the American people to weaponize the government to attack his political enemies.

He’s a Communists [sic].

All Communists must be expelled.

Maybe Schiff is a communist. Maybe not. But Congress and the Senate would be better off without him.

And Blumenthal.
