Just after being promoted to manager of President Trump’ reelection campaign, Bill Stepien issued a statement on Wednesday regarding the strategy being implemented to beat presumptive Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden in November:
President Trump and Brad Parscale have built an unprecedentedly strong campaign based on data and technology, and Brad will remain heavily involved. We have a better team, better voter information, a better ground game, better fundraising, and most importantly, a better candidate with a better record.
With 109 days left, our goal is clear — to win each day we have left until Election Day. If we win more days than Joe Biden wins, President Trump will be re-elected.
We will expose Joe Biden as a hapless tool of the extreme left and contrast his failures with the undeniable successes of President Trump.
The same media polls that had the world convinced that Hillary Clinton would be elected in 2016 are trying the same trick again in 2020. It won’t work.
Lanhee Chen, Mitt Romney’s chief policy advisor in 2012 and senior advisor to Senator Marco Rubio during his 2016 presidential campaign, agreed:
It is the best possible strategy they can employ given … how vocal [progressives] have been about a number of [Biden’s] policy proposals, which I think most Americans find completely distasteful.
The idea of trying to portray Joe Biden as somebody who is either an empty vessel for the left, or in cahoots with the far left, makes a lot of sense to me.… I think it is the best available play in [their] playbook.
The strategy showed up on Sunday when the president was grilled by neoconservative Chris Wallace, host of Fox News Sunday. Speaking of November, Trump told Wallace: “You know why I won’t lose? Because the country, in the end, they’re not going to have a man who — who’s shot. He’s shot. He’s mentally shot.”
When Wallace pressed Trump to declare that Biden was senile, Trump responded: “I don’t want to say that. I’d say he’s not competent to be president. To be president, you have to be sharp and tough and so many other things.”
He added:
He [Biden] doesn’t even come out of his basement. They think, “Oh, this is a great campaign.” So he goes in: I’ll then make a speech. It’ll be a great speech. And some young guy starts writing: “Vice President Biden said this, this, this, this.”
He didn’t say it. Joe doesn’t know he’s alive, OK? He doesn’t know he’s alive.
Biden couldn’t handle an interviewer as tough as Wallace, added the president: “Let Biden sit through an interview like this. He’ll be on the ground crying for mommy. He’ll say Mommy, mommy, please take me home.”
The latest poll from Rasmussen finds that more than a third of likely voters agree, saying that Biden isn’t capable of handling a debate with the president. The same poll showed that 38 percent of all voters, including 20 percent of Democrats, think Biden is suffering from some form of dementia.
The new strategy will likely propel Trump further in the race for the White House. In just the last week, according to Rasmussen, Biden’s support has dropped by three points while the president has gained five points, with Biden’s lead dropping from 10 points to just three.
The same poll showed Trump’s support among independents jumping by six points, cutting Biden’s 12-point lead last week in half.
