Cops Raid Home of Anti-gun Democrat Omar’s Son; Guns, Ammo Found; Roommate Arrested

Another of Minnesota’s far-left Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar’s kids might be in trouble.

This time, it’s her son, Abdikadir Hirsi. Cops raided the 21-year-old’s apartment and arrested his roommate, Abdulrahman Abdi, who’s compiled quite a record with Minnesota’s criminal justice system.

The cops found guns and ammo, a bad look for the Somali refugee congresswoman. She favors banning guns she doesn’t like.

Multiple Convictions

Alpha News’ Liz Collin broke the news this morning on X.

“Multiple law enforcement sources say a search warrant was conducted Tuesday night on the apartment where Congresswoman Ilhan Omar’s son lives in Minneapolis. Guns and ammunition were recovered from the scene,” Collin wrote: 

In response to our questions about what took place at the apartment, [the Minneapolis Police Department] confirmed another man, who is not the Congresswoman’s son, was arrested earlier in the day. 

Abdulrahman Abdi was booked into the Hennepin County Jail on a weapons charge.

Elaborating, the Daily Mail revealed how and why police nabbed the fuzzily coiffed Abdi.

“Earlier that day, the city’s police department said in a statement to the Daily Mail that they conducted a traffic stop and cited Abdi for no proof of insurance and no license,” the website reported: 

The department said that Abdi was released at the scene and the vehicle was in the process of being impounded when a firearm was found inside. 

Officers later tracked Abdi to an address on Marquette Ave where they said they arrested him “without incident.”

Abdi was later booked into Hennepin County Jail on a weapons charge before being released on Wednesday night, records show. 

Abdi must be best buddies with a lot of cops, lawyers, prosecutors, and judges given the amount of time he has spent in court.

Since 2022, Abid has been convicted of one felony and nine misdemeanors, all of them traffic related: 

• October 2025: Driving 70 mph in a 55-mph zone, operating after his license was revoked;
• February 2025: Felony eluding;
• December 2024: Falsely reporting a crime;
• July 2024: No license plates/registration, no proof of insurance;
• April 2024: Driving 65 mph in a 55-mph zone;
• September 2023: Driving after revocation; 
• July 2023: Driving 56 mph in a 30-mph zone — two charges, including no proof of insurance, dismissed; and,
• September 2022: Driving while operating a cell phone.

Advice: Motorists should steer clear of Abdi. He drives like a maniac, is distracted by his cell phone, and might not have insurance.

Omar Against Guns

Reports did not reveal the type of guns Abdi had in the car, or whether Hirsi, Omar’s son, owned any of those found in the apartment. Hirsi’s involvement with guns is, as they say, bad optics for the anti-gun, African congresswoman.

She wants to ban what she calls “assault weapons,” which is leftist code for any firearm the gun-grabbers don’t like, and supports red-flag laws that endanger the rights of law-abiding gun-owners.

“There are more guns than people in this country, over 400,000,000 to be exact,” Omar wrote on X in 2022:

More guns aren’t making us safer, maybe it is time to reconsider our love for guns and start thinking about what the “well-regulated” part of the 2nd amendment really means.

Omar’s son and his roommate apparently didn’t get that message. Or this one from former New York Representative Jamaal Bowman:

There are 120.5 guns for every 100 people in America. 

We must prioritize people over weapons of war and ban assault rifles and semi-automatic guns

The Somali refugee’s position on guns aside, this isn’t the first time her son has run into law enforcement. Last year, “Omar said Immigration and Customs Enforcement [ICE] agents pulled her son over … after he stopped at a Target store and released him only after he produced his US passport,” the Daily Mail reported:

After he made a stop at Target, he did get pulled over by [ICE] agents, and once he was able to produce his passport ID, they did let him go,” Omar told WCCO radio.

Omar said her 20-year-old son routinely carries his passport as a precaution. 

She also claimed ICE agents previously entered a mosque where her son and others were praying before leaving without making arrests.

Arrests were probably in order.

Omar’s Daughter

Omar’s daughter is also familiar with police.

As The New American reported last year, Isra Hirsi was among 108 leftists arrested for refusing to end a pro-Palestinian tent-city protest at Columbia University.

Charges were dropped, and Barnard College temporarily suspended Hirsi.

“i’m an organizer with CU Apartheid Divest @ColumbiaSJP, in my 3 years at @BarnardCollege i have never been reprimanded or received any disciplinary warnings,” she wrote on X:

i just received notice that i am 1 of 3 students suspended for standing in solidarity with Palestinians facing a genocide.

Barnard made clear that Hirsi was suspended not for protesting, but for refusing to disperse when ordered to do so.

Far-left Democrats raced to defend the young African radical, whose X feed describes her as an “angry black girl” and features a communist hammer and sickle. What Hirsi has to be angry about is unclear. She would be living in squalor in Somalia if white American taxpayers hadn’t subsidized her mother’s move to the United States.
