Carlson, MTG Begin Planning to Build a Third Party
Weeks ago, podcaster Tucker Carlson and former GOP Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene bolted the political party to which they had long belonged.
Now, they say, it’s time for a third party.
The reason: President Donald Trump’s betrayal of his base in starting another foreign war at the behest of Israel.
Carlson’s call for a third party came during an interview with the Columbia Journalism Review. MTG, as she is known, told English podcaster Piers Morgan that Trump has turned into a combination of Israel First chicken hawks Mark Levin, the Fox News bloviator, and GOP Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina.
The We The People party, which reposted Greene’s interview, has created a website and X account.

Third Party, Yes; POTUS Candidate, No
Carlson said the “breaking point” with Trump was June 2025’s 12-day war, during which the United States struck Iran, “the first salvo in a regime-change effort led by Israel.”
Carlson, who regularly spoke to Trump, hasn’t done so since the president went to war on Iran. “I’m not interested in talking to him,” Carlson said:
I feel sorry for him. He’s not a man in charge of his own life at this point. I feel sorry for anybody who’s enslaved, including him. I mean, I visited him three times at the White House in the month before the Twelve-Day War, and I told him the same thing all three times: “You’re not gonna see the rise of a democratic, pro-Western government in Tehran. The best you’re gonna see there is just this suppurating wound.” And he said, “I know.”
Carlson said Fox tycoon Rupert Murdoch called Trump thrice daily to urge him to attack Iran. “And I know that because I’ve talked to Trump about it many times,” Carlson said.
The podcaster called Trump’s memorandum of understanding with Iran a “humiliating defeat for the United States.” But better that than going on, he said.
Noting that he never posts on social media, Carlson said that “the lesson of the last two and a half months” to him concluded a third party must be built:
If you vote for Trump and you still wind up in a regime-change war — if Chuck Schumer is strongly behind Trump’s foreign policy, which he is — then we need options, or else let’s just give up and be ruled by the most unscrupulous people. And I’m just too young to accept that. We need a third party. …
I’m going to help build a third party. There should be a good-faith effort to figure out what benefits the country. I mean, if you make $60,000 a year, you’re degraded. Your life expectancy has gone down, and the promise of your children’s lives is likely gone. No one seems to care. It’s not even a factor. “What about Hamas?” I officially don’t care about Hamas. The U.S. government should have, as its first priority, the welfare of its own people.
But Carlson said he does not want to be a candidate.
MTG: In Talks
Greene told Morgan that she is speaking with others about an “America-focused party that doesn’t fall into the traps of Democrats and Republicans, but could align some serious players from the right and the left and move forward.”
Such a party will take time, but there are “serious conversations happening,” she said. The new effort will require Americans “to step up because it’s not going to be a couple of players like Tucker and I and a few others that can roll up our sleeves and get this done.”
Asked whether she, Carlson, and Megyn Kelly could operate within and change the GOP, Greene said no.
“We already did that. We thought we did that in 2024,” she said:
This is why we’re furious. … We’ve been betrayed, 100-percent betrayed. … They took Donald Trump — it’s like the Scooby Doo mask. They pulled his mask off, and what was underneath was a nasty combination of Lindsey Graham and Mark Levin. The wing of the neocon Republican establishment party that the voters in 2024 hated, loathed, rose up against, and voted to end that version of the Republican Party … here we are not even two years in and Donald Trump is leading it. Those are the phone calls he takes. Those are the donors that he has dinner with. I mean I can’t tell you how many people wanted to vomit when they saw Bill Gates in there having dinner with him in the White House. And like Mark Zuckerberg, who spent unknown amounts of money against him in the 2020 campaign on Facebook. … But the betrayal has gotten even deeper with Big Tech and Big Pharma, and it just continues on. So the players are all the same. … You have to add in the political consultants that run the campaigns and get paid cycle after cycle. None of that will change.
Greene said threatening to abandon the GOP will not force it to change. Party mugwumps will answer such a threat with what angry America First conservatives want to hear, then return to business as usual.
“The GOP is a disaster,” she wrote on X:
The Republican Party hijacked MAGA, pretended to be America First and MAHA, and then sold us all out.
Then Trump rubber stamped the entire con job while taking checks from literally everyone.
America First needs to go 1776 on the Neocon Epstein controlled Republican Party and MAHA needs to burn the bridge to the f***ing ground.
“Tucker is not the only one who is done supporting the Republican Party,” Greene wrote when he told the Can’t Be Censored podcast that he had left the party:
There is A LOT of us that are absolutely fed up and will not support a party that betrays its voters and country.
That does not mean we are turning into Democrats either.
But we are DONE with the America LAST Republican Party.
We The People is “an umbrella party uniting all third parties,” it declared on X. “Decentralized, minimalist, people-powered. Local action, national impact. Let’s get stuff done — together.”
