Clinton Judge Freed Illegal-alien Plane Hijacker. N.C. Cops: Drunk Illegal Killed Little Girl in Car Crash
An illegal-alien plane hijacker’s release from custody and the death of a six-year-old girl, as police allege, at the hands of a drunk-driving illegal alien have something in common: lax enforcement of U.S. immigration laws.
Citing Newsweek, the Department of Homeland Security disclosed today that a federal judge in Florida ordered Immigration and Customs Enforcement to release the convicted hijacker after he served 22 years in prison because the agency probably can’t deport him.
Meanwhile, yet another drunk-driving illegal alien is under arrest in North Carolina in connection with killing a little girl when he slammed into her mom’s SUV. He had been deported three times.
The Hijacker
In what can only be described as a preposterous ruling, U.S. District Judge John E. Steele of Florida’s middle district ordered the release of Maikel Guerra Morales pursuant to the convict’s habeas corpus position.
Morales and other Cubans hijacked a commuter plane in Nueva Gorgona, Cuba, 24 years ago in March and forced the pilot to fly to Key West, Florida, Newsweek explained.
The gang of cutthroats claimed they had taken a “freedom flight,” but Morales landed a 22-year prison sentence for the hijacking.
“After completing his prison sentence, Guerra Morales was placed in removal proceedings,” Newsweek continued:
An immigration judge ordered him removed but granted him protection under the Convention Against Torture, deferring his removal to Cuba. ICE released him under an order of supervision on March 1, 2023.
The agency arrested him again on December 30, 2025, after determining that it intended to remove him to Mexico.
Judge Steele noted that Guerra Morales had been held for more than six months since his re-arrest and said the government had failed to provide evidence that Mexico had agreed to accept him.…
“The Government cannot lock individuals in a cell indefinitely as a workaround for a stalled deportation process,” Steele wrote.
So, of course, Steele, appointed by President Bill Clinton, said Morales could run wild and free.
Said Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis, “this is yet another example of an activist judge trying to thwart President Trump’s mandate from the American people to remove criminal illegal aliens from our country.”
If Morales commits more crimes, Steele, of course, will pay no price.
Six-year-old Killed
But Steele’s approach to handling Morales is one reason so many Americans have died at the hands of illegals.
The latest is Calli Toler. ICE has issued a detainer for Jaime Corona, the man accused of killing Toler while drunk driving in Ayden, North Carolina.
A little after noon on July 3, state police said, Corona, 33, “was traveling south on Warren Jones Road in a 2023 Dodge Ram pickup when he failed to stop at a stop sign. Investigators said the truck entered the intersection and struck a 2016 Chevrolet SUV traveling west on County Home Road,” ABC News 12 reported.
Driving the SUV was Calli’s 35-year-old mom, Kelli. Her four-year-old was also in the car. They landed in the hospital. Calli was dead at the scene.
The Mexican is charged with these crimes:
• Misdemeanor death by vehicle
• Failure to stop for a stop sign
• Careless and reckless driving
• Driving while license revoked
Corona is in jail on a $100,000 bond.
“Santiago had illegally entered the United States at unknown dates and locations THREE times before, and was deported in 2019, 2023, and 2024,” ICE reported:
He illegally entered the United States for a FOURTH time at an unknown date and location.
Deported three times, and Corona still refused to stay out, and when he came the fourth time, police allege, he killed a little girl.
The killing raises the obvious question of how many times authorities must deport an illegal-alien criminal before they deport him permanently, or find another permanent solution.
Whatever the answer, the two stories illustrate the impotence of U.S. immigration authorities in dealing with illegal-immigrant rapists, murderers, and drunk drivers, and now, hijackers.
