Crazed Congress

Congratulations to Joe Wolverton II, J.D. for an outstanding article concerning the new Congress, and what steps are necessary to pull the country out of the muck (“112th Congress: Who Will Adhere to the Constitution?” January 24 issue).

It was nice to see a clear description of the three dog-eared clauses of the Constitution that the Left has traditionally used to perversely further the aims of totalitarianism: the Commerce, Supremacy, and Welfare clauses.

Wolverton’s simple characterization of Congress as a drug addict offering to spend less on his vices is an instant classic: “Think of it this way, if a man is spending $1,000 a month on illicit drugs, his promise to ‘cut spending’ won’t comfort his concerned wife and family. This man must absolutely abandon such behavior and commit unconditionally to spending not a single penny more.”
