Border agents at the Southwest frontier with Mexico are under siege. They have apprehended more than 100,000 illegal aliens in February, a nearly 30-percent increase over January’s total, U.S. Customs and Border Protection has reported.

And just five months into fiscal 2021, agents have apprehended just shy of 400,000. That’s 86.7 percent of the total for 2020.

If the flood of impoverished illegals continues, by year’s end in September, agents will deal with 950,000. That total will double the number caught last year.

Many of the illegals carry the China Virus, but the Biden Regime is releasing them into communities across the border. From there, they travel anywhere they wish.

Yesterday, a Biden official admitted the president’s imprudent immigration policies and promise of amnesty have caused the latest surge of Latin American “migrants.”

The Latest Numbers

Calling the numbers a grim portent of the country’s future is an understatement. Border agents have apprehended 396,958 illegals since October 1. They caught 100,441 during February.

Agents are catching about 2,629 illegals per day; about 110 per hour. In February, it was 3,587 per day.

If the daily rate since October 1 continues, agents will apprehend 959,585 illegals by September 30. If February’s rate is the new norm, agents will catch more than 1.1 million. That’s the equivalent of adding the population of San Jose, California.

As per usual, single adults were the largest cohort last month in both categories of apprehensions — those caught jumping the border, and those stopped at ports of entry. They numbered 71,598.

The rest were “families,” at 19,246, and minors, at 9,457.

February’s total this year was 173-percent more last year’s. The five-month figure, 396,958, is 97-percent higher than last year’s 201,619. In other words, the five-month total is double what it was in 2020.

Virus Carriers

Even Biden’s own people now admit the president’s promises of amnesty, refugee admission, easy asylum claims, and open borders — all designed to flood the country with Democrat voters — are causing the rush.

Answering a reporter at a news conference, National Security Council’s Roberta Jacobsen said Biden offers “hope”:

Well, first of all, one of the things I think is important is we’ve seen surges before, surges tend to respond to hope, and there was a significant hope for a more humane policy after four years of, you know pent up demand. So I don’t know whether I would call that a coincidence, but I certainly think the idea that a more humane policy would be in place may have driven people to make that decision.

Yet the migrants have more than hope, as The New American reported last week.

They also have the China Virus.

President Trump closed the border to keep virus-carriers out of the country and ordered immediate deportation of illegals just after the contagion began.

Biden reopened it on inauguration day with executive orders that undid everything Trump had accomplished.

Now, Americans will pay the price.

The non compos mentis president, who doesn’t know who his defense secretary is, ordered the release of “migrants” — leftist code for illegal aliens — the virus regardless.

Only when the illegals get to bus stations in such cities as Brownsville, Texas, where a virus test is required, do they and public authorities know if they carry the germ. Almost 200 tested in the border city have the virus, Fox News reported on Tuesday.

And even then, virus carriers are traveling throughout the country even as leftist public officials imprison Americans with lockdown orders.

An illegal alien in Brownsville gave NBC the bad news. Infected illegals will spread the disease far and wide:

“Right now we were tested for Covid and they separated about eight of us because we were positive,” she told Noticias Telemundo Investiga. “We are waiting right now.” She was waiting to catch a bus to Houston.

Other migrant families who also said they had tested positive were waiting to go to other destinations: North Carolina, Maryland and New Jersey.
