Say What?! Abdul El-Sayed Equates Youth “Sex Changes” With Circumcision

“There are some ideas so absurd that only an intellectual could believe them,” goes a paraphrase of philosopher Bertrand Russell. Some of these ideas, however, are not so absurd that a campaigning politician wouldn’t mouth them. This could come to mind with a recent comment from Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed (D-Mich.).

Addressing his support for child “sex-change-oriented” treatments, El-Sayed delivered what’s been dubbed the “‘ding-a-ling’ defense.”

If you accept circumcision, he essentially said, you have no business complaining about child sexual-distortion treatments (SDTs).

Well, it’s good that’s cleared up.

El-Sayed made his comment on the Monday episode of commentary show Jesse Watters Primetime. As Fox News reported earlier this week:

“So you think it’s okay for a parent to slash his kid’s ding-a-ling off?” Watters asked El-Sayed.

“Are you circumcised?” El-Sayed asked Watters.

“Circumcision’s different than castration,” Watters responded.

“It’s a problem that you think you get to decide what happens between a parent, a doctor and a patient,” El-Sayed went on. “I’m just saying that, yes, circumcision is surgery on a kid’s ding-a-ling.”

Yet there just may be a significant difference. That is, we’ve never heard a circumcised man lament, “I feel as though I have ruined my life.” This is, however, precisely what teenager Nathaniel (last name withheld) said in 2019 about his SDTs. He’d had “bottom surgery” upon turning 18, but within a year realized it was a life-rending mistake — an irreversible one.

Whether or not the reputational damage El-Sayed’s Kamala-esque answer caused is irreversible remains to be seen. But it did inspire blowback from across the political spectrum. Per Fox again:

Even some on the left didn’t buy into El-Sayed’s attempt to compare sex changes with circumcision.

“This talking point isn’t it,” Ryan Grim, a co-founder of the left-wing outlet DropSite News, wrote in response to a clip of the exchange.

“I’m actually agreeing with Jesse Wat[t]ers…” Andrew Laufer, a New York-based civil rights attorney, posted.

“Abdul El-Sayed just compared circumcision to chopping a kid’s entire penis off. Circumcision and castration are not the same, Abdul! Play this on repeat through November,” Turning Point USA spokesperson Andrew Kolvet wrote.

“He might be worse than Kamala Harris,” conservative pundit Benny Johnson posted.

Making this somewhat ironic, too, is that El-Sayed has a medical degree and once considered being a surgeon. He’s not licensed, however, and perhaps this is a good thing. A doctor who confuses circumcision with a child “sex change” sounds like a liability risk. I’m not an attorney, though.

Stepping in It — Big Time

Joking aside, there’s little reason to suppose El-Sayed, who’s not a dumb man, believes his SDT defense. Rather, it’s what he must say to toe his party’s MUSS (Made-up Sexual Status, aka “transgender”) line. It’s necessary to maintain the support of his base’s left wing. Yet what does it say about a party when it rejects a basic reality and division in nature: the male-female binary?

And should such a party be vaulted to power?

Really, though, El-Sayed’s attempt at placating followers may backfire. After all, his constituency includes not just “progressives,” but also Michigan’s substantial Muslim population. And as the New York Post opined Tuesday:

El-Sayed’s quip comparing [SDT] surgery to circumcision served as a detonation device between the two groups.

Circumcision is, after all, one of the few religious practices Jews and Muslims emphatically share.

For Jews, brit milah is a 4,000-year-old covenant stretching back to Abraham, traditionally performed on a baby boy’s eighth day of life.

For Muslims, circumcision is likewise an ancient and overwhelmingly observed religious tradition, rooted in the sunnah and practiced throughout the Muslim world.

This is not some obscure bit of comparative religion: It is a defining ritual in the two faith communities whose increasingly combustible relationship may help decide the Michigan Senate race.

In other words, people can disagree on circumcision. (And there is a movement of men adamantly opposed to it.) But comparing it to SDTs is a nonstarter politically — and intellectually. As the Washington Examiner pointed out yesterday, most

American men are circumcised. Their lives are not irreparably altered. Their natural maturation is not impeded.

…And if a 13-year-old boy suddenly demanded to be circumcised for cosmetic reasons, no responsible parent or doctor would needlessly subject them to a scalpel.

[Like circumcision,] castration has also been around for thousands of years, though chiefly as a tool of torture and subjugation. The children of impoverished parents, slaves, or the abducted young might be turned into eunuchs. Today, affluent parents voluntarily hand their children over to quacks to be forever damaged.

“Frankenstein” Procedures

And this is reality. The aforementioned Nathaniel called his SDT a “Frankenstein” procedure — and he’s hardly alone. I myself have provided a great number of such examples over the years. There was the case of 12-year-old Australian Patrick Mitchell, now-detransitioner and -activist Chloe Cole, former MUSS poster child “Milo,” and Walt Heyer, to name just a few. Most of these hapless souls had surgery — sometimes as teens.

Oh, and Heyer is the proprietor of website www.SexChangeRegret.com, where a multitude of related testimonials can be found.

Moreover, behind this child-mutilation effort lies one very mercenary motivation: money. Just ask Jamie Reed, a “queer,” 42-year-old woman who’s “married” to a “transman.” A former “gender clinic” worker, she blew the whistle on her employer after witnessing gross malpractice.

That is, clusters of girls from the same school would enter the clinic claiming they were meant to be boys. These obviously were cases of “social contagion,” which girls, being the more social sex, have greater susceptibility to. But what was the diagnosis?

“Gender dysphoria.”

And they were routinely recommended for SDTs.

This said, the real issue is deeper still. For MUSS propaganda in schools and elsewhere serves to distort generations of children’s conception of reality, of that male-female binary. And indoctrinating kids with lies is no small matter.

It is, though, apparently, to Abdul El-Sayed. His answer to Watters was wholly unserious and unworthy of the lofty office to which he aspires. Moreover, being a physician, he should understand better than anyone a truth uttered by ex-MUSS individual Alan Finch.

“Transsexualism was invented by psychiatrists,” Finch warned decades ago, having learned his lesson the hard way. “You fundamentally can’t change sex….”

 This is very much unlike, do note as the midterms draw nearer, your political-party affiliation. It can be changed very easily.
