Goodness of America

A Surprising Encounter

Jason White, a dentist from Lubbock, Texas, told today.com that he and his friends stopped at Busboys and Poets in Washington, D.C., for lunch on Monday, January 23 before catching a flight home. They had been in D.C. to watch President Trump’s inauguration.

Busboys and Poets is known for promoting political activism and social justice. Many of the customers in the restaurant were wearing Women’s March pins, in support of the anti-Trump “Women’s March.” When the men walked into the establishment, they feared that they might be out of place, particularly since one of the men was wearing a pro-Trump Make America Great Again hat.

“We started getting looks,” White, 37, told today.com. “I told my friend, you need to take your hat off. I don’t want people to think we’re coming in here to flaunt our Trump stuff. We’re just coming here to have lunch.”
