Israel attacked Iran earlier today, striking targets near Isfahan.

Iran claims that its nuclear facility in Isfahan was not damaged.

The Israeli airstrike appears to be mostly symbolic, with both sides looking to avoid escalating recent tensions after the Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, Syria.

Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir reacted to the attack on Iran, stating on X, “Weak!”

G7 leaders released a joint statement urging Israel and Iran to de-escalate tensions, stating, “In light of reports of strikes on April 19th, we urge all parties to work to prevent further escalation. The G7 will continue to work to this end.”
