UN General Assembly Adopts Pandemic Resolution Endorsing Wokeness and Globalism
In yet another example of the United Nations’ international-socialist agenda, the global body’s General Assembly adopted on October 12 a “political declaration on pandemic prevention, preparedness and response” that endorses globalism, abortion, feminism, and other radical social policies.
The resolution, designated A/81/L.6, was adopted by a vote of 153-3, with two abstentions. Only the United States, Israel, and Argentina voted against it, while New Zealand and Paraguay abstained.
The General Assembly had originally planned to adopt the document by consensus on September 25, but several countries, including the United States, blocked that move, forcing the October 12 roll-call vote.
United States Rejects “Divisive Ideologies”
In a September 25 speech at the UN, Erica Schwartz, director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said that “the United States is not in a position to support this text in full” because of concerns such as “the inclusion of divisive ideologies that lack definitional consensus.”
Although Schwartz did not clarify what “divisive ideologies” were in the resolution, The New York Times reported that “the United States asked to delete mentions of equity, solidarity and universal access to sexual and reproductive health care services.”
UN Endorses Radical Agendas
A look at the final resolution validates Schwartz’s comments. For example, it expressly endorses internationalism, claiming that “preventing and preparing for future global health and pandemic emergencies calls for multisectoral collaboration, among Member States and with relevant United Nations entities, especially the World Health Organization [WHO], international financial institutions and relevant intergovernmental, international and regional public health organizations, civil society, [the] private sector, academia and philanthropies, to implement robust global, regional, national and local responses in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations and States’ obligations under international law.” The resolution also calls for “strengthen[ing] the implementation of the [WHO’s] International Health Regulations.”
The resolution also endorses a radical social agenda. For example, it calls for ensuring “universal access to sexual and reproductive health care services” (i.e., abortion), as well as “universal health coverage” (i.e., socialized medicine) and “equity and the respect for human rights” (i.e., a radical social agenda). And it calls for infusing “gender equality into all policies and programmes” (i.e., radical feminism).
The declaration also vaguely calls for “tak[ing] measures to counter and address the negative impacts of health-related misinformation [and] disinformation.”
In a statement, the WHO celebrated the resolution’s adoption, claiming that it “provides a strong reaffirmation of the global solidarity and commitment needed to protect future generations from the devastating impacts of pandemics.”
America Must Get Out
For supporters of national sovereignty and biblical principles, however, the General Assembly’s declaration provides yet another reminder that the UN’s founding principles are completely antithetical to America’s founding principles. Why does the United States continue to remain part of an organization that advocates policies contrary to the U.S. Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution?
