Skeptics Bring Science to UN; Democrats and Alarmists Ignore It

In addition to ignoring the political realities in the United States, American Democrats and climate alarmists from around the world ignored the science while gathered in Madrid for this year’s United Nations “climate” summit. But it was not for lack of experts or scientific evidence.

In fact, prestigious scientists from all over the planet gathered to rebut the global-warming alarmism coming from the UN 25th Conference of the Parties (COP25). One top scientist blasted the “phoniness of this bizarre environmental cult” and the “non-existent climate emergency” it is pushing. Participants at the UN summit, though, are not interested in the truth, experts at COP25 told The New American magazine from the summit.

The Climate Intelligence Foundation (CLINTEL), which represents hundreds of scientists and experts who reject the notion of a “climate emergency,” presented its petition in Madrid. The document has already been presented to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, the European Commission, and the EU “Parliament.”

As usual, though, the establishment media and advocates of a global “climate” regime to rule over humanity carefully avoided the science and the facts. Instead, they all bowed down to shouting children — at least the children who support their narrative and agenda. Children who expose the fraud, though, were ignored, too.

Perhaps the most high-profile scientific event on the sidelines of the UN COP25 was a December 3 gathering in Madrid at the Climate Reality Conference under the banner “Rebutting the United Nations’ Climate Delusion.” It was sponsored by the Heartland Institute, the CO2 Coalition, the Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow (CFACT), and the European Institute for Climate and Energy (EIKE).

“One of the biggest examples of fake news even before the invention of fake news is ‘settled science,’” said General Secretary Wolfgang Müller with EIKE, Germany’s leading think tank for climate and energy policies. “If it’s settled, it’s not science. If it’s done by consensus, it’s not science, and vice versa.”

Speaking from inside the UN COP25 conference, Müller told The New American at COP25 that there appeared to be a deliberate effort to prevent any questions directed at alarmism-promoting scientists and experts at the UN summit. He also noted that blatantly incorrect and unscientific assertions on everything from hurricanes to climate were being allowed at the UN summit, with no hint of reality allowed in.

Dr. William Happer (shown above), an internationally renowned Princeton physicist who served President Trump on the National Security Council, had even harsher words. “We are here under false pretenses, wasting our time talking about a non-existent climate emergency,” Happer said at the skeptical gathering countering UN propaganda that has duped so many well-meaning people.

“It’s hard to understand how much further the shrillness can go, as this started out as global warming, then it was climate change or global weirding, now it is climate crisis and climate emergency, what next, but stick around, it will happen,” the physicist explained. “I hope sooner or later enough people recognize the phoniness of this bizarre environmental cult and bring it to an end.”

Happer also suggested that this would end badly for everyone. “We have a climate crusade … this is not science, it’s a religion,” he declared. “Crusades have a bad way of ending. Typically many, many people are hurt, no good is done, but a few cynical opportunists profit and most people pay the price. The same thing will happen with the climate crusade if we permit it to go forward, and I pray that we can stop it before it does too much damage.”

Happer, who previously told The New American that more CO2 would be very good for the planet, said Trump was hoping to bring “rationality” back into the climate discussion and policy. “He is very sympathetic,” said Happer, who was tapped by the president even before he was sworn in. “Personally, he feels very strongly that way.”

Dr. David Wojick, executive director of the Climate Change Debate Education, noted that the UN’s alarmism was purposely ignoring evidence contradicting its agenda. “Their reports are not assessments,” he told The New American about the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and its alarmist pronouncements. “They have the structure of legal briefs arguing one side of a court case. I call this Artful Bias. They mostly just ignore the skeptical arguments, or if mentioned they are simply glossed over. So what you have is half a debate.”

Beyond that, the UN’s arguments are “entirely on based on computer modeling, but the models they rely on are constrained so that only humans can cause global warming,” explained Dr. Wojick, who has a Ph.D. in the logic and philosophy of science. He added that the notion of a “climate emergency” is not grounded in reality, but in outlandish reports and predictions that often do not even support the alarmism.

Numerous other experts at the COP25 and the Climate Reality Conference also lambasted the UN. These included climate scientist Stanley Goldenberg, meteorologist Anthony Watts, Chilean scientist Douglas Pollock, advisor to former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and climate expert Lord Christopher Monckton, International Climate Science Coalition Executive Director Tom Harris, and Heartland Institute Center on Climate and Environmental Policy Director James Taylor.

CLINTEL, a Dutch group of scientists who reject the idea of a climate emergency, also appeared in Madrid to highlight the reality that countless scientists disagree. “Clintel says that computerized global temperature simulation models are unfit for the purpose of setting climate policies — they have consistently run hot for 20 years,” said Viv Forbes, executive director of the Saltbush Club and a CLINTEL ambassador in Australia.

Confronted with the facts, over a third of the EU’s pseudo-Parliament voted against declaring a “climate emergency.” And according to CLINTEL, it is time for the entire world to step back from the hysteria and examine the real scientific evidence surrounding climate.

“For too long we have been forced to listen to biased academics (chasing research funds), energy speculators (chasing government subsidies and tax breaks), alarmist journalists (chasing sensations), noisy children (chasing days off school) and greenish politicians (chasing votes),” continued Forbes. “It’s time to stop the chasing. We need a grown-up debate allowing all sides to present their science on ‘Man-made Global Warming’.”

Geologist Gregory Wrightstone, writing in Human Events as the COP25 kicked off, also highlighted the alarmist penchant for ignoring science and reality. “The inconvenient facts, at least to the climate catastrophe crowd, is that the bulk of their predictions are errant speculations about what may or may not occur, 50 or 80 years in the future, based on climate models that substantially overestimate temperature rise,” he explained.

“In reality, by nearly every metric, we see that humans are thriving in the changing ecosystem,” continued Wrightstone, author of the book Inconvenient Facts: The Science that Al Gore Doesn’t Want You to Know. “The current changing climate has led to increasing food production, soil moisture, crop growth, and a ‘greening’ of the Earth. All the while droughts, forest fires, heatwaves and, temperature-related deaths have declined substantially.”

But for Democrat lawmakers at the global event, along with UN bureaucrats and representatives of other governments and dictatorships in attendance, ignoring the science is not just a preference — it is essential if the tax-funded festivities are going to continue. In particular, they pretended not to know about the growing amount of scientific evidence discrediting the man-made global-warming hypothesis underpinning the entire UN climate scare.

Despite their rhetoric, though, the Democrats and alarmists in Madrid did act like they understood the science. Just consider their behavior: Flying thousands of miles in on CO2-spewing jets, riding around in fleets of CO2-spewing luxury vehicles, feasting on gourmet food, and squandering unfathomable amounts of tax money partying in luxurious, climate-controlled hotels. If they really believed what they preach, would they behave that way? Not according to critics, who blasted participants at the COP25 as “hypocrites.”

When confronted with the science and scientists who contradict the man-made warming, the alarmists typically respond by shrieking incoherently or claiming that it is all a giant conspiracy funded by Big Oil. Indeed, one of the only alarmist publications to cover the Climate Reality Conference, the far-left “CleanTechnica,” dismissed it all by bringing up the boogeyman Charles Koch, describing the scientists questioning the alarmsim as “the cabal that Charles bought.” No evidence was presented to support the assertion of a giant conspiracy involving scientists and Koch.

In the real world, however, the major oil companies and virtually all the Big Business players including mega-banks are helping finance the alarmist movement. Ironically, Spain’s largest energy supplier and consumer of “fossil fuels,” Endesa, is a “diamond sponsor” of the UN COP25. Yes, seriously. The Rockefeller dynasty, meanwhile, which has been the top financial backer of the alarmist movement, created one of the world’s largest fortunes using oil.

The UN and Democrats also demand that humanity listen to the “children,” in particular, the autistic Swedish girl Greta Thunberg and others inspired by her antics — although it went virtually unreported when Greta admitted that the “climate crisis is not just about the environment.” Meanwhile, when the “anti-Greta” showed up at COP25, German girl Naomi Seibt, the cameras looked away, and politicians pretended not to notice. While Greta has been endlessly celebrated by the global elites, all Seibt got were threats of gang-rape by ANTIFA terrorists.

It is clear that the UN attendees are serious about exploiting the “climate emergency,” whether the facts support them or not. Indeed, the anti-scientific extremism has gone so far overboard that there is now serious talk of using UN military forces to enforce global climate decrees on countries that refuse to comply. Greta and some of her older handlers even admitted recently that their vision for saving the “climate” will also require dismantling the free-market system, the “patriarchy,” and much more.

If the UN COP25 were truly based on “science,” the “journalists” and delegates of governments and tyrants would have been crowding into the Climate Reality Conference by the thousands to hear about the actual science. If they were truly interested in the voices of children, they would have swooned around Seibt to hear what she had to say. Instead, they all pretend that the science and people like Seibt do not even exist.

This is not a scientific movement, or a “youth” movement, but a dangerous and totalitatrian political movement led by dangerous elitists behind the scenes. The goal is not to save the planet, but to enslave it. Only an educated population will be able to effectively resist.
