Far-left globalists at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) threatened to sue GOP U.S. Senator Joni Ernst of Iowa because of her effort to uncover waste, fraud, and abuse at the agency.
Ernst, who uncovered payroll fraud at the worthless agency two years ago, recently exposed millions in wasted taxpayer dollars on such items as pottery classes in Morocco and a Sesame Street program in Iraq.
She revealed the threat during an interview with Daily Mail.
And in something of an amusing twist on the story, in their complaints about President Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s raid on the corrupt agency, Democrats have revealed just how corrupt it has become.
Far-left Democratic Somali refugee Ilhan Omar, who “represents” Minnesota’s 5th Congressional Cistrict, called Trump a dictator for pulling the agency inside the State Department and sending Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to root through its files.
Her homeland has collected more than $2 billion from the rogue agency since 2022.
Ernst Threatened
Ernst told Daily Mail that agency employees stonewalled her effort to look at the agency’s spending.
“They said, ‘No, you can’t look at it. You’re not going to look at these contracts. You don’t need access to it, so we’re not going to let you see it’” Ernst told the website:
“Defiant” USAID staff even threatened to bring legal action, the senator said. “I mean, it is crazy,” Ernst added.
The agency also told Ernst that if it gave her the information she demanded and “it gets into the wrong hands, we can sue you.”
“They were trying to scare us away from continuing to dig into this,” she added.
When Ernst and her staff finally gained access to the files, agency employees watched them like a hawk.
Ernst found waste, fraud, and abuse on top of the payroll fraud that she sought information about from August 2023 through June 2024.
“Big fat cat contractors” were fleecing the taxpayers and spending big bucks to line their pockets, Ernst told the website.
Your Tax Dollars at Work
Daily Mail also detailed the waste, fraud, and abuse that Musk’s DOGE and others have uncovered in foreign aid, which Trump cut off for 90 days:
- $30 million to study AIDS among prostitutes and “transgenders” in South Africa since 2018;
- $1.5 million for a Serbian “LGBTQ” outfit to “advance diversity equity and inclusion in Serbia’s workplaces and business communities, by promoting economic empowerment of and opportunity for LGBTQI+ people in Serbia”;
- $2.5 million for electric vehicles in Vietnam;
- $47,000 for a “transgender” opera in Colombia; and
- $32,000 for Peru’s trans comic-book program.
Ernst detailed even more, Libs of TikTok reported:
- $2 million for Moroccan pottery classes;
- $2 million promoting tourism to Lebanon;
- $20 million for a Sesame Street show in Iraq;
- Sending Ukrainians to Paris Fashion Week; and
- $1 million for risky research in Wuhan lab.
Plus, “$9 million to feed Syrians ended up in terrorist hands.”
Omar’s Complaint
With all that money jetting around the planet, no wonder Omar — brought here on the taxpayers’ dime years ago — is complaining.
Omar said that Americans face a “constitutional crisis”:
We talked about Trump wanting to be a dictator on Day 1. And here we are. This is what the beginning of dictatorship looks like. When you gut the Constitution and you install yourself as the sole power, that is how dictators are made.
She claimed that “Trump and Elon and all of their cronies” are usurping the constitutional powers of Congress, for Congress has “the power of the purse.”
“We get to decide where money is allocated,” she said, claiming that bureaucrats were being paid to stay at home and do nothing. The taxpayers are “being ripped off,” she claimed. However, the money USAID was spending suggests that keeping its employees at home would save the taxpayers a bundle.
“I am exceptionally upset about USAID,” she screeched:
I lived in a refugee camp for four years as a child surviving civil war. It is the essential programs that USAID provided that kept my family and I fed and safe. It is the resources that so many people around the world rely on. And it is our soft power. Oftentimes people interact with our country through the military. That does not create love for us, and it certainly does not keep us safe.
Omar’s concerns are understandable, given that her own countrymen named her as a Somali agent in Congress.
Last month, USAID threw away another $29 million on the hopeless African nation, and since 2023, taxpayers have wasted $2.3 billion on it.
Omar, who perpetrated immigration and student loan fraud by marrying her brother, did not explain why American taxpayers are obliged to spend money on her poverty-stricken homeland. Where she received her education on the finer points of the Constitution and the separation of powers is unclear.
CIA Front
USAID is widely believed to be a CIA front that is involved in overthrowing foreign governments opposed by the far-left globalist Establishment, such as the democratically elected but neutral government of Ukraine in 2014.
As well, USAID allows access to poor countries the U.S. wants to control.
And “corruption,” an X user wrote, is the only reason the agency’s employees would oppose official scrutiny of its spending.
USAID officials were placed on leave this week for refusing DOGE personnel access to files.
