Big Tech continues to be complicit in keeping the corona paranoia alive.
Platforms Google and Reddit recently censored a document, signed by thousands of scientists and medical practitioners, that calls for a more measured approach to the COVID-19 outbreak, including allowing those who are not high-risk to return to normal life.
The Great Barrington Declaration is a science-driven petition signed by more than 235,000 concerned citizens, nearly 7,000 medical and public health scientists, and nearly 15,000 medical professionals.
The declaration says of the widespread draconian lockdown measures: “Keeping these measures in place until a vaccine is available will cause irreparable damage, with the underprivileged disproportionately harmed.”
The document goes on to state, “The most compassionate approach that balances the risks and benefits of reaching herd immunity, is to allow those who are at minimal risk of death to live their lives normally to build up immunity to the virus through natural infection, while better protecting those who are at highest risk. We call this Focused Protection.”
But apparently this is too extreme for companies such as Google and Reddit, which have actively leveraged their platforms to keep Internet users from reading the document.
Breitbart News notes:
At the weekend, Google shadow-banned the Great Barrington Declaration. If you tried searching for it, the first sites you were shown were ones that debunked it, such as a hit-piece in the rather dubious activist blog Byline Times which attempted to link the Declaration to ‘a Koch-funded network that denies climate science while investing in polluting fossil fuel industries.’
It also led you to a Guardian article seeking to dismiss the Declaration just because a few pranksters — quite possibly left-wing ones on a mission to discredit it — had signed using funny names like Prof Cominic Dummings and Dr Johnny Bananas.
Google has since relented after backlash, but the fact remains that the search giant attempted to bury the Declaration and discredit it by funneling users first to the critical Guardian piece, which went so far as to try to slander Great Barrington Declaration co-author Dr. Martin Kulldorff of Harvard by pointing to his appearance on a radio show that “previously hosted multiple antisemites and Holocaust deniers as well as other conspiracy theorists,” despite the fact that the host of the show is a socialist who has invited guests from all extremes of the political spectrum, both Left and Right.
Reddit, meanwhile, actively deleted posts about the Declaration. The moderators gave as explanation the statement that “Posts and, where appropriate, comments must link to a primary scientific source: peer-reviewed original research, pre-prints from established servers, and research or reports by governments and other reputable organisations. Please do not link to YouTube or Twitter.”
This, despite the fact that the Great Barrington Declaration is an original statement from three of the world’s leading epidemiologists.
“Content must not be spam or be promotional in nature. Spamming the same or very similar posts or comments, as well as self-promotion of any kind will likely lead to a ban. Scams will be reported to authorities,” Reddit moderators further said as justification for their actions.
The Declaration states clearly:
Those who are not vulnerable should immediately be allowed to resume life as normal. Simple hygiene measures, such as hand washing and staying home when sick should be practiced by everyone to reduce the herd immunity threshold. Schools and universities should be open for in-person teaching. Extracurricular activities, such as sports, should be resumed. Young low-risk adults should work normally, rather than from home. Restaurants and other businesses should open. Arts, music, sport and other cultural activities should resume. People who are more at risk may participate if they wish, while society as a whole enjoys the protection conferred upon the vulnerable by those who have built up herd immunity.
Ultimately, this is what is truly problematic to the gatekeepers at Big Tech. They don’t care about the credentials or expertise of the scientists calling for an end to the coronavirus restrictions because, ultimately, they don’t care about the truth. The establishment wants to keep people locked down, so anything that questions the narrative of COVID-19 as the black death must be censored.
The social-media platforms have done this countless times, with media depicting experts questioning the accepted mainstream coronavirus response, such as the America’s Frontline Doctors video that was censored by Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube, and even had its website shut down.
At this point, something getting censored by the major platforms is practically the most reliable indicator that it’s true.
