A lawyer for the ballyhooed CIA whistleblower who lit the latest impeachment fire has been plotting a coup against the president since at least 2017, his Twitter feed shows.
He called it a “coup” himself, and predicted that “we will get rid of him.”
Reported in a lengthy story at Fox News, those items from whistleblower attorney Mark Zaid call into question the sincerity of the whistleblower, outed long ago as hate-Trump Democrat Eric Ciaramella. A CIA employee linked to the forgotten collusion between the Democratic National Committee, the 2016 Clinton presidential campaign, and shady Ukrainians, Ciaramella worked for President Obama’s National Security Council, and then Trump’s, until he was fired for leaking anti-Trump material to the media.
Ciaramella’s hearsay account of the now-famous phone call between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelensky, during which Trump asked his counterpart to investigate the growing Biden-Burisma influence-peddling scheme, began the latest impeachment hysteria.
Yet Zaid has been planning such an effort for at least two years. He just had to find the right client.
The Tweets
Fox compiled a number of Zaid’s tweets.
“#coup has started. First of many steps. #rebellion. #impeachment will follow ultimately,” Zaid tweeted on January 30, 2017 after Trump fired acting attorney general Sally Yates.
On June 17, 2017, citing the Washington Post’s self-congratulatory piece on the 45th anniversary of its first story about the Watergate scandal, Zaid tweeted that “45 years from now we might be recalling stories regarding the impeachment of @realDonaldTrump. I’ll be old, but will be worth the wait.”
Two weeks later, Zaid tweeted this: “Since Jan 20th, I would much rather be in Canada. What a great country! We’ll be great again when @realDonaldTrump leaves.”
A follower then asked, “Are we really going to be able to get him out?”
Replied Zaid, “It’s very scary. We will get rid of him, and this country is strong enough to survive even him and his supporters. We have to.”
On July 4, responding to a Fake News poll that purported to show that “more Americans trust CNN than Trump,” Zaid tweeted, “Not shocking at all. I predict @CNN will play a key role in @realDonaldTrump not finishing out his full term as president.”
But that’s not all.
Zaid also spent time on Twitter fishing for clients to sue the president, much like an ambulance chaser seeking clients to file bogus liability claims.
Zaid also had something of an open casting call for whistleblowers on Twitter as Trump took office, writing that CIA employees should “come to” his law firm “to lawfully challenge” the new president.
Zaid publicly requested that celebrities Debra Messing, Nancy Sinatra, Cher and Rob Reiner help promote his whistleblower law firm.
“@cher please check out our new whistleblower page,” Zaid wrote in one tweet, which garnered no response from the famed singer.
In February, Zaid escalated his pitch to Reiner, asserting that “we have a chance to depose” Trump in court. At one point last year, Zaid even pitched his services to Michael Avenatti, after the now-embattled attorney mentioned that he was “now representing whistleblowers within ICE.”
Avenatti became famous when he falsely claimed that U.S. Supreme Court Justice Kavanaugh was a gang rapist.
Another of the whistleblower’s attorneys tweeted in August 2017 that Trump could be removed from office using the 25th Amendment, a ridiculous proposition that FBI officials discussed after Trump fired former FBI chieftain James Comey.
No Surprise
Zaid’s tweets are no surprise.
Hate-Trump leftists and Democrats have been speculating about impeachment not just for two years, but for more than three and going on four.
In April 2016, three months before Trump was even nominated, Politico raised the question of impeachment. By then, however, it was clear Trump would be the GOP nominee. All his opponents, except John Kasich and Ted Cruz, had quit the Republican race before April, and those two bailed out in early May.
The Politico piece not only showed just how much Democrats and the NeverTrump GOP elites feared his defeating Clinton, but also set the stage for the impeachment, the success of which depended upon acclimating Americans to the idea early on.
“From the right, Washington attorney Bruce Fein puts the odds at 50/50 that a President Trump commits impeachable offenses as president,” Politico reported. “Liberal Florida Rep. Alan Grayson says Trump’s insistence on building a wall at the U.S.-Mexico border, if concrete was poured despite Congress’s opposition, could lead down a path toward impeachment.”
