Zoe Warren, the host of The New American’s Second Amendment news program 2A for Today, is speaking live at 1:00 p.m. EST at the Deposit of Faith Coalition Conference. Mr. Warren discusses the importance of gun rights and the centrality of the Second Amendment as a key part of the Bill of Rights that is necessary for the maintenance and defense of fundamental human liberties and as a bulwark against the ambitions of tyranny.

The Deposit of Faith Coalition Conference is a project the Catholic organization Church Militant. The organization and its coalition champions the effort to end U.S. taxpayer funding of Catholic bishops.

“The U.S. bishops need to be cut off from U.S. taxpayer dollars,” the organization states. “For decades, they have used the money to promote the Marxist ideology of the Democratic Party under the guise of ‘charity’ and ‘social justice.’ This must end!”

In one recent example of government funding to Catholic bishops, the Guardian newspaper reported that U.S. Catholic dioceses received billions of dollars in paycheck protection funds during the Covid-19 affair.

“As the pandemic began to unfold, scores of Catholic dioceses across the US received aid through the Paycheck Protection Program,” the Guardian reported in February 2021. “Overall,” the Guardian continued, “the nation’s nearly 200 dioceses, where bishops and cardinals govern, and other Catholic institutions received at least $3bn.”

Church Militant argues on its website that “The bishops have an anti-American agenda” that includes both anti-free speech and anti-gun advocacy.

In 2020, the organization addressed the issue of self defense and gun rights from its theological point of view.

“God endows as part of His design the natural and inalienable right for humans to defend themselves, and if they’re responsible for the lives of others, this defense is a grave duty. Government, therefore, doesn’t give the rights, but defends them.”

The organization pointed out that this understanding comes directly from Catholic doctrine. “This comes from the Catechism of the Catholic Church regarding the respect for human life, and more specifically, legitimate defense,” wrote Paul Block III in an article for the organization.

Mr. Warren, a journalist and documentary filmmaker with deep understanding the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights, addresses the same subject.

The press conference featuring Mr. Warren begins at 12:30 p.m. at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., following a prayer rally held at 11:00 a.m. EST at the Washington headquarters of the U.S. Catholic Bishop’s Conference.
