A U.S. House Committee is probing Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz’s ties to China’s ruling communist party.
The far-left Minnesota governor is bosom pals with China, having visited the nation more than a dozen times.
So now, the House Committee on Oversight wants the Department of Homeland Security to turn over records relating to the Walz-China connection. The committee has subpoenaed Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for the documents.
Concern is, Walz could be a major national security risk if elected.
The Subpoena
The committee has questions about Walz’ loyalty not only because the Chinese government has been trying to infiltrate the U.S. government for years, but also because the Chinese government has been trying to influence state leaders such as governors.
“This infiltration and influence tactic is one facet of a larger cold war the CCP utilizes in its unrestricted warfare against America, which the CCP considers its “main enemy,” says a letter from committee chief James Comer to Mayorkas.
A whistleblower revealed important information about Walz and his link to the Chinese Reds, Comer continued:
[T]he Committee has learned of a non-classified, Microsoft Teams group chat among DHS employees — titled “NST NFT Bi-Weekly Sync” — that contains information about Governor Walz that is relevant to the Committee’s investigation. The Committee has also learned that further relevant information regarding Governor Walz has been memorialized in both classified and unclassified documents in the control of DHS.
Noting that the probe of China’s communist party and its influence operation began before Walz became a vice presidential candidate, Comer obliquely questioned the far-left governor’s loyalty.
“[I]f a state governor and major political party’s nominee for Vice President of the United States has been a witting or unwitting participant in the CCP’s efforts to weaken our nation,” Comer wrote, “this would strongly suggest that there are alarming weaknesses in the federal government’s effort to defend the United States from the CCP’s political warfare that must be urgently addressed.
The subpoena seeks the following material:
• All documents and communications in the Microsoft Teams group chat “NST NFT Bi-Weekly Sync” from July 1, 2024, to present, including all accompanying, uploaded, or imbedded attachments and documents, referring or relating to Minnesota Governor Timothy J. Walz (or the office and/or staff of Governor Walz); and,
All Intelligence Information Reports and Regional Intelligence Notes (including these documents that have been titled or categorized differently) from November 2023 to present related to Minnesota Governor Timothy J. Walz (or the office and/or staff of Governor Walz).
Fast Boats to China
Walz is so taken with China that he has bragged about visiting more than two dozen times, Fox News reported about the growing scandal. Indeed, he told an agriculture publication he had visited 30 times, but a Harris-Walz damage controller told Minnesota Public Radio the number was “closer to 15 times.”
“According to Walz’s own testimony, he first went to China in 1989 amid the Tiananmen Square uprising. Walz was part of the first delegation of American teachers to ever go to the communist nation during the trip,” Fox reported:
He was a participant in Harvard’s WorldTeach program, which gave Walz the opportunity to live and teach young students in China for a year.
Walz apparently enjoyed his time in China so much that after transitioning his teaching career to the U.S., Walz continued to take annual trips back to China with his students. Walz eventually set up a company with his wife Gwen, called Educational Travel Adventures, Inc., which was dedicated to taking students on trips to China and other international destinations. The two even honeymooned in China on one of their trips in 1993. Walz’s annual trips with students took place between 1993 and the early 2000s, before he began running for public office.
The Walzes shuttered the company when Walz landed in Congress in 2006. But he bragged about it during the campaign. His campaign website “highlighted his work as a visiting fellow at Macau Polytechnic University, a university in China with ties to the CCP,” Fox reported.
Second Major Penetration Ahead
If Harris and Walz prevail in November, the victory might open the federal government to as dangerous a penetration as occurred during the administration of former President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden.
As Tony Bobulinksi, a former business crony of First Son Hunter Biden, told the committee early this year, the Biden Mafia permitted Chinese Reds to penetrate the government. That penetration occurred because of Joe Biden’s involvement with son’s deal with China’s CEFC energy company.
Because CEFC is a subsidiary of the Chinese Communist Party, Biden never should have permitted Hunter, not yet a convicted felon, to get cozy with CEFC. Yet Biden “enabled it,” Bobulinski told the committee. The “process” to ink a deal with the Reds began while Biden was vice president in 2015 and continued through 2018, he testified.
CEFC “successfully sought to infiltrate and compromise Joe Biden and the Obama-Biden White House,” he said.
“He had a constitutional responsibility and an obligation to the American people to shut it down before it began,” Bobulinski testified. “This is because CEFC had been identified as a known surrogate of the Chinese Communist Party by the U.S. Government and prosecutors in the Southern District of New York as far back as 2016.”
Clan Biden and associates pulled in more than $8 million from CEFC and “related entities,” the committee has reported.
Whether the Chinese Reds compromised Walz, or whether they tried, is unknown.
But Democrats are susceptible. Former GOP House Speaker Kevin McCarthy booted Representative Eric Swalwell off the House Intelligence Committee because he was linked to Chinese spy Christine Fang.
Fang raised funds for Swalwell’s campaign. Although Fang had sex with two mayors, Swalwell never confessed to such a relationship.
