The president of the six-million-member FreedomWorks, Adam Brandon, announced on Sunday that his conservative activist group has initiated the National Election Protection Initiative as a “counterweight” to the Biden administration’s efforts to collectivize the United States. Brandon, who also hosts Newsmax TV’s Save the Nation Sunday morning show, introduced the National Election Protection Initiative’s chair, attorney Cleta Mitchell:
I cannot think of a better person to spearhead this initiative than Cleta Mitchell, who has been an outspoken advocate and voice of reason for improved election laws, especially during the chaotic 2020 election cycle.
We are delighted to now be working with her in an expanded capacity and look forward to kicking off this new project with her as our guide.
Mitchell sports an enviable resume, having served as legal counsel for the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), the National Rifle Association (NRA), and the American Conservative Union (ACU), where she also served as president.
She is perhaps best known as the lawyer who joined Donald Trump in the hour-long telephone conversation with Georgia’ Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger. When left-wing activists learned of her participation, they mounted a campaign to pressure her law firm to force her to resign.
Mitchell is a turncoat Democrat, and for that there is no forgiveness. Said Mitchell, “A long time ago, I was a Democrat, and so I cut my political teeth as a Democrat.” She then exposed the evil machinations of the Left, working through the Democrat Party, to take over the nation’s electoral process:
One of the things I realized over the years is that Democrats are all about the process, the political process.
They think if they can just manipulate and change the process and keep tweaking the process, they will change the outcome.
That’s why the left and the Democrats are always so determined to rewrite the rules of political engagement.
H.R.1 is the current tool being used by the Democrats to “rewrite” the election rules. Said Mitchell: “The left would rig the process with this [bill] … by adding states and completely changing how House members’ districts are [determined], so it’s a full-scale assault. They’re going to try to cram it through the Senate just like they did in the House.”
Her initiative is going to focus on the swing states that turned the election away from Trump and toward Biden: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. They plan to mobilize local volunteers, teaching them how to interact with state elected officials and pressure them to clean up voter rolls, root out illegal voters, and repeal COVID-related election changes that were instigated to the detriment of election integrity. It will also promote in-person voting with paper ballots, and oppose same-day voter registration and registration of 16- and 17-year-olds.
This initiative is one among many “counterweights” to the Biden administration’s agenda. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is working to enlist the support of other state attorneys general in his quest to use all legal means to thwart the Biden agenda. Mitchell and Brandon are hoping to enlist enough of the six million members of FreedomWorks to make a difference. Said Mitchell:
These are all things that we’ve been fighting with the left over for a number of years.
I think now Americans have awakened to what the left is doing and they’re ready to fight back.
I certainly hope they are.
