Far-left Democrats are continuing their bizarre crusade to return an illegal alien and gang suspect back to the United States from El Salvador.

U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen of Maryland, who thinks Kilmar Abrego Garcia is one of his “constituents,” landed in El Salvador today. Other Democrats plan to join him. Van Hollen was denied permission to visit Garcia in the nation’s terrorist detention center.

But as the Democrats try to rescue one of the “people we care about most” — meaning illegal aliens — one victim of an illegal alien goon, Patty Morin, told Fox talker Hannity that not a single Democrat called her family after Victor Martinez-Hernandez kidnapped, raped, and murdered her daughter, Rachel, in 2024.

More bad optics for the Democrats are court records that reveal Garcia’s wife filed a protective order against him in 2021. Yet in a GoFundMe effort, she wrote that he was the father of the year.

Deported to El Salvador, Imprisoned at CECOT

Immigration and Customs Enforcement booted Garcia back where he belongs on March 15 — “mistakenly,” the leftist media claim — where he landed at the nation’s Terrorist Confinement Center. The usual lawfare ensued. A U.S. District Court ordered Garcia returned and the U.S. Supreme Court agreed, 9-0. SCOTUS noted, however, that the administration must “facilitate” his return, not carry it out. It also noted that federal district courts do not control foreign policy decisions.

The administration argued, and still argues, that Garcia is a member of the feral MS-13 gang with a final order of deportation. And because President Trump declared MS-13 a terrorist organization, an order to delay deportation is meaningless.

Van Hollen to the Rescue

In stepped Van Hollen, who apparently never met an illegal alien he didn’t like.

He asked to meet with El Salvador’s hard-as-nails president, Nayib Bukele. During a meeting at the White House, Bukele said he will not release Garcia from the detention center, called CECOT. He called the request “preposterous.”

“How can I smuggle a terrorist into the United States?” Bukele asked. “I don’t have the power to return him to the United States.”

Today, Van Hollen flew to San Salvador, hoping to see Garcia.

“The goal of this mission is to let the Trump Administration, to let the government of El Salvador know that we are going to keep fighting to bring Alberto Garcia home until he returns to his family,” Van Hollen said in a video X post:

Hollen called the deportation a “miscarriage of justice,” noting the SCOTUS decision:

This is about due process, this about rule of law. What bullies do, is they begin by picking on the most vulnerable, but if we get rid of the rule of law and due process in the United States, it’s a short road from there to tyranny.”

This afternoon, speaking at an impromptu presser, Van Hollen said he was denied permission to see Garcia. ”I’m asking President Bukele … to do the right thing and allow Mr. Abrego Garcia to walk out of a prison,” he said. Garcia has not been charged with or convicted of a crime, Van Hollen said, and was “illegally abducted from the United States.” The far-left senator said he would “keep pressing” for Garcia‘s release.

Morin Ignored

Van Hollen and other Democrat efforts to return Garcia opened the door for Patty Morin to explain how they treated her after Martinez-Hernandez smashed her daughter’s skull with what appeared to be a rock. On Monday, he was found guilty of premeditated murder, rape, and kidnapping Morin on a trail in Harford County, Maryland.

“I’m very angry,” she told Hannity:

I’m actually outraged, but I’m too sad to show anger at the same time. [Van Hollen] did not call our family. He did not give condolences. There was no action on the Democratic Party in any way from Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, [Homeland Security Alejandro] Mayorkas, anyone here in Maryland.

The Democrats working overtime for Garcia — but who did nothing for the Morin family — “don’t care” about Americans, Border Czar Tom Homan fumed on Fox. “Don’t [the Democrats] have daughters, do they have any care at all for American citizens that are victims of these crimes?”

Domestic Abuser?

Yet the pro-Garcia Democrats apparently don’t know much about the man they think U.S. officials wrongly deported.

Independent journalist Andy Ngo dug up Garcia’s court records and posted them to X.

“The wife of deported suspected gang terrorist Kilmar Abrego Garcia either lied to the court when she petitioned for a domestic violence protective order against him or she is lying now on the GoFundMe claiming he is an excellent husband as over $162K has poured in,” Ngo wrote.

The court records show that Vasquez filed a “domestic violence” charge against the illegal alien.

Amazingly, however, Garcia has, we are to believe, reformed. Indeed, the way the GoFundMe website explains him, he could star in a reboot of Father Knows Best.

“Kilmar is an excellent father,” the fundraiser says, citing wife Jennifer Vasquez. Before he was sent back home, he was the “main provider” for the family and “the love of my life for over seven years.”

The “devastated and confused” Vasquez “lost [her] life partner, my children lost their father, and all of our family, neighbors, co-workers, and friends have been devastated due to this unjust family separation.”

Continued the GoFundMe effort:

Jennifer and the three children are now struggling emotionally and financially in his absence. Their youngest child has been having uncontrollable outbursts due to the distress of his father’s absence. To comfort himself, he searches for Kilmar’s work clothes just to smell them. His daughter suffers from stress seizures, and has needed to carry emergency medicine. Jennifer can’t afford to take time off to care for her children. She is now their sole provider.

At this writing, GoFundMe has raised almost $200,000.

Amusingly, the photo that accompanies the lachrymose GoFundMe effort features Garcia in a Chicago Bulls ball cap. The NBA team’s attire is an MS-13 indicator of gang membership.
