Unethical and outright barbaric studies conducted by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and its sub-unit, the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), on monkeys and beagle puppies have recently added to the public outrage over the agencies spending taxpayers’ money on animal abuse. Add to that the well-substantiated allegations of the NIH and the NIAID subsidizing gain-of-function research in the Wuhan lab that led to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Now, recently resurfaced reports on the experiments allege the nation’s top health agencies were involved in cruel medical experiments on orphans.

According to Source Watch, in June 2003, investigative journalist Liam Scheff launched an investigation into New York-based Incarnation Children’s Center (ICC), a Catholic orphanage for HIV-positive children, upon rumors of “terrible things happening there.”

Some of the children who lived in the center were orphans, while others had parents who were drug addicts unable to care for them or “enforce a heavy AIDS drug regimen.” The child services agencies then brought such children, most of them black and Hispanic, to ICC, where their drug regimens would be carried out “with adherence.”

The investigation found that in 1992, ICC established an outpatient clinic for HIV-positive children, funded by the NIAID and the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), and received government trial funding through 2002.

That is when the drug studies conducted at ICC and sponsored by government agencies took place.

Per the report, the studies’ titles included:

“The Effect of Anti-HIV Treatment on Body Characteristics of HIV-Infected Children” is looking for the causes of “Wasting and Lipodystrophy (fat redistribution)” by using drugs known to cause wasting and lipodystrophy.

“The Safety and Effectiveness of Treating Advanced AIDS Patients between the Ages of 4 and 22 with Seven Drugs, Some at Higher than Usual Doses.” The seven drugs in the study are all known to cause debilitating, potentially fatal side effects, yet they are administered at “higher than usual doses” in four-year-olds.

“Stavudine Alone or in Combination with Didanosine.” (Stavudine plus Didanosine has killed pregnant women.)

A vaccine study to be administered to children “12 months to 8 years” using “live chicken pox virus.” (One of the consequences of a live virus vaccine can be the disease itself.)

“HIV Levels in Cerebrospinal Fluid.” (Cerebrospinal fluid can only be gathered from a spinal tap, a dangerous and invasive procedure.)

A study on HIV-negative children born to HIV-infected mothers that uses an experimental HIV vaccine.

The drugs that were primarily given to children belonged to various classes of toxic chemotherapies known as “antivirals” or “antiretrovirals,” per the report.

Notably, the most-used of them, AZT, also called Zidovudine and Retrovir, was widely promoted by NIAID and its head, Dr. Anthony Fauci, as “safe and effective” back in 1980s despite FDA analysts recognizing the “chemotherapy-like” drug’s high toxicity and advising against its approval.

The side effects of AZT include, per the drug’s label, Hematologic Toxicity (blood toxicity), including Neutropenia (loss of neurophils, an essential component of blood) and Severe Anemia (potentially fatal lack of blood production), Symptomatic Myopathy (muscle wasting), Lactic Acidosis and Severe Hepatomegaly (liver swelling) with Steatosis (fat degeneration).

The other drug used at ICC was Nevirapine (marketed as Viramune), which, similarly to AZT, interferes with the essential movement of genetic information in the cell. One of the side effects, per the drug’s label, is a Steven-Johnson Syndrome/ toxic epidermal necrolysis, which causes skin tissue to die and fall off the body.

According to the report, doctors would often need to force children to take the drugs against their will, often brutally:

Once taken into custody, they [children] become subjects of NIAID sponsored drug trials…. The drugs given to the children are toxic, known to cause genetic mutation, organ failure, bone marrow death, bodily deformations, brain damage and fatal skin disorders. If the children refuse the drugs, they’re held down and force fed. Should they continue to resist, they’re taken to Columbia University Presbyterian hospital, where a surgeon puts a plastic tube through their abdominal wall into their stomachs. The drugs are injected directly into their intestines.

As a result, over 200 children were reported to have died.

While federal law requires the oversight boards of child wards to hire independent advocates for any foster child enrolled in medical studies that involve “greater than minimal risk and lacked the promise of direct benefit,” the requirement was violated.

In addition to that, there’s a high probability some of the involved children did not even suffer from HIV/AIDS, since the HIV tests are known to be “highly inaccurate.”

Liam Scheff provided blood-chilling details on his findings in a 2014 interview. The journalist cited the official estimates that showed that five percent to 10 percent of the 13,878 children enrolled in pediatric AIDS studies funded by NIH since the late 1980s were in foster care, and that no medical records of the patients enrolled in the taxpayer-funded studies “were ever made available to official investigators.”

The studies conducted by ICC between 1997 and 2004 and funded by NIAID and NICHD were reportedly co-sponsored by such pharmaceutical companies as GlaxoSmithKline, Pfizer, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Merck, Genentech, Biocine, and MicroGeneSys.
