Black Betterment and Brainwashing
Born in 1925 in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, which for many years had no black residents, I did not associate with blacks until I entered the Navy in 1943. During my college years, from 1946-50, as part of the soccer and basketball teams, I had no problem playing with and competing against them. In fact, several of my closest friends were black.
In later years, having spent time in Washington, D.C.; South America; Europe; and the Middle East, and retiring in North Carolina, I continued to associate with people of different colors, particularly blacks.
In my lifetime, the changes that have taken place here in the United States regarding race relations have been awe-inspiring. Today, I know of no vocation in which blacks do not participate, including the fields of medicine, law, education, science, business, etc.
