The American system of government created by the Founders is a republic and its rule of law, not a democracy and rule by a mob. Sad to say, presidential candidate Joe Biden is not alone in praising democracy and ignoring James Madison’s assertion that democracies are “incompatible with personal security or the rights of property, and have in general been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths.” Madison has rightly earned the name “father of the Constitution.”
