The Goodness of America
A Young Role Model
At just 15 years old, Legacy Jackson from St. Louis is showing how community service can be both impactful and enjoyable, inspiring children across the region to give back in meaningful ways.
Legacy’s journey began at a young age, as her mother, Kynedra Ogunnaike, instilled in her the value of giving back. Every Christmas morning, before opening gifts, Legacy and her brother would feed the homeless. Even as a child, Legacy noticed something missing — there were no other kids participating.
“She’d always point out, ‘Why are there no other kids here?’” Ogunnaike recalled. “It became a running joke because I knew she’d mention it every time.” This observation sparked an idea. At just seven years old, Legacy envisioned a way to make community service engaging and fun, leading to the creation of Little Legacies Community Service Organization. The organization motivates young people to get involved in service projects, such as delivering teddy bears to cancer patients or spreading cheer to senior citizens.
