“Please Help Bury My Mama”

Kayden, an 11-year-old boy from Rome, Georgia, faced the unimaginable loss of his mother, Shannon Mount, who passed away on July 8 at the age of 45. As his family was struggling with the expenses for her funeral, Kayden took matters into his own hands by setting up a hot dog stand to raise the necessary funds, 11 Alive reported.

For two days, Kayden sold hot dogs by the roadside in Rome, with a sign that read, “Please Help Bury My Mama,” hoping to receive donations. His heartfelt plea caught the attention of a person driving by, who shared his story on social media, sparking a wave of compassion and generosity from people across the country.

As word spread, donations began pouring in directly to the funeral home, and within hours the funeral expenses were covered. An online fundraiser set up to help Kayden raised more than $83,000, far exceeding its initial goal of $7,100. Kayden’s family reported on their GoFundMe page that the extra money will go to support the boy as he grows, with some being put into a college fund.
