Self-reliance, Health, and Liberty
Americans, on average, are some of the least healthy people in the world, if not the least healthy. They are certainly the least healthy among citizens of developed countries. This is mainly due to the effects of what could be called the “Big Four”: Big Ag, Big Food, Big Pharma, and Big Government.
Big Ag companies produce pesticides and genetically engineered crops that enter our food supply. Big Food companies fill their products with preservatives and other additives. Big Pharma offers a cornucopia of drugs and vaccines for every conceivable ailment. Big Government purports to “regulate” these industries to keep us safe and healthy.
All of this, rather than making us healthy, has only served to make us sick and obese. Keep in mind that additives are in foodstuffs to increase profits for food processors, not to make them healthier or in any way better for consumers. Pharmaceutical drugs merely serve to treat symptoms, not cure or prevent degenerative diseases. And government regulatory agencies are staffed with former Big Ag, Big Food, and Big Pharma execs in a classic example of the fox guarding the henhouse. While America has more abundant food and pharmaceutical options than anywhere else in the world, it isn’t really doing us any good overall. We are paying for our convenience with our health.
