President Claims He Has No Choice but to Build Border Wall
“The border wall — the money was appropriated for the border wall. I tried to get them to reappropriate it, to redirect that money. They didn’t. They wouldn’t. And in the meantime, there’s nothing under the law other than they have to use the money for what it was appropriated. I can’t stop that.”
President Joe Biden provided the above excuse for building 17 miles of border wall after being reminded that he had pledged not to build another foot of wall. When asked if he believes that the border wall works, he provided a one-word answer, “No.” But his budget requests for fiscal 2023 say otherwise: “The border wall system impedes and denies illicit cross-border activity by allowing law enforcement an increased response time and greater opportunity for successful law enforcement resolution.”

“We were told that this was to curtail the flow of illegal immigrants into the country. If that is the case, and that’s what it’s for, then it’s being built in the wrong place.”
