The Associated Press reported on January 2 that, in a ceremony that day, then-President Joe Biden awarded the Presidential Citizens Medal to 20 recipients. The medal “was created by President Richard Nixon in 1969 and is the country’s second highest civilian honor after the Presidential Medal of Freedom. It recognizes people who ‘performed exemplary deeds of service for their country or their fellow citizens,’” noted AP.

Among the recipients were former GOP Representative Liz Cheney of Wyoming and current Democratic Representative Bennie Thompson of Mississippi. Both were honored for their work on the J6 Committee, which “investigated” the January 6, 2021 protest at the U.S. Capitol.

However, the House Oversight Committee had concluded in a probe into the J6 Committee that Cheney tampered with a witness and must be investigated by the FBI for suborning perjury from that witness; and Thompson is an unrepentant insurrectionist who defended cop killers and terrorists who planned to wage war against the U.S. government.
