We begin “The Last Word” this time around with a quote from The Last Word With Lawrence O’Donnell, the MSNBC nightly program in which, says the network’s promotional blurb, O’Donnell “brings his extraordinary background in politics and entertainment” to viewers.

For the past year, O’Donnell has been competing with his fellow NBC/MSNBCers (Rachel Maddow, Chris Matthews, Al Sharpton, Lester Holt, Chuck Todd, Andrea Mitchell, et al.) and his confreres in the “progressive” media fraternity (CNN, CBS, NPR, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, etc.) in Trump-hate obsessions. These leading groupthink avatars of the establishment thought cartel have been especially obsessed with channeling Hillary Clinton’s conspiracy theory that Donald Trump is in bed with Vladimir Putin.

In The Last Word segment for April 7, O’Donnell delivered a tortuously speculative and convoluted conspiracy-theory argument positing that President Trump’s decision to bomb Syria was really choreographed by Putin to boost Trump’s credibility and distract the American media and the American public from investigations into the Trump-Putin conspiracy.
