While most Americans know of the conspiracy to cover up the truth about President John F. Kennedy’s assassination, that was not the first or only time the government lied to the people.  

Elements within the U.S. government and its supporting cast in media have lied about key aspects of some of the most pivotal events in U.S. history. And, in most cases, the “official story” persists to this day. 

We’re going to look at five especially egregious coverups in U.S. history. Of course, if space permitted, many more could have been chosen.
