Abolish USAID: Support H.R. 1029

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), established in 1961 under the Foreign Assistance Act, has operated beyond the federal government’s constitutional limitations for more than a half-century. Additionally, it has wasted billions of American taxpayer dollars on foreign-aid programs plagued by corruption, and has exhibited an anti-American ideological bias at odds with traditional American values.

In response, U.S. Representative Greg Steube (R-Fla.) introduced H.R. 1029, long-overdue legislation that, if enacted, would abolish USAID and its foreign-aid programs.

USAID exemplifies the dangers of an unaccountable Deep State bureaucracy that prioritizes socialist and globalist interests over U.S. sovereignty and the well-being of the American people. Rather than benefiting the taxpayers who fund it, USAID promotes socialist policies abroad. The funds, allegedly intended for “humanitarian” or “developmental” purposes, end up in the hands of foreign governments that believe they are entitled to our wealth and neither share our interests nor respect our sovereignty.
