President-elect Donald Trump confirmed plans to declare a national emergency in response to the more than 10 million illegal immigrants the Biden administration has allowed to enter the United States since January 2021. Trump responded, “TRUE!!!” to a post by Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton on Truth Social stating:

GOOD NEWS: Reports are the incoming @RealDonaldTrump administration prepared to declare a national emergency and will use military assets to reverse the Biden invasion through a mass deportation program.

Trump’s response is consistent with his immigration policy laid out in his campaign promises. During his 2024 presidential campaign, Trump promised to deport criminal illegal immigrants, stating during his October 27 campaign rally at Madison Square Garden in New York City:

On Day 1, I will launch the largest deportation program in American history to get the criminals out. I will rescue every city and town that has been invaded and conquered, and we will put these viscous and bloodthirsty criminals in jail, then kick them the hell out of our country as fast as possible.

One of the people tasked with carrying out Trump’s plans is Tom Homan, who will be Vice President Kamala Harris’ successor as “border czar.” Trump announced Homan’s appointment last week, where he stated Homan will be in charge of the deportation program, stating in a post on Truth Social:

I am pleased to announce that the Former ICE Director, and stalwart on Border Control, Tom Homan, will be joining the Trump Administration, in charge of our Nation’s Borders (“The Border Czar”), including, but not limited to, the Southern Border, the Northern Border, all Maritime, and Aviation Security. I’ve known Tom for a long time, and there is nobody better at policing and controlling our Borders. Likewise, Tom Homan will be in charge of all Deportation of Illegal Aliens back to their Country of Origin. Congratulations to Tom. I have no doubt he will do a fantastic, and long awaited for, job.
