The Republican National Committee (RNC) elected Michael Whatley as their new chair, and former President Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law Lara Trump as co-chair. The nominations were approved after unanimous votes for both Whatley and Trump. The new leadership comes less than two weeks after former chair Ronna McDaniel announced her resignation.

The GOP congratulated Whatley and Trump, stating on X, “Introducing the new RNC Chair @ChairmanWhatley and Co-Chair @LaraLeaTrump!”

Whatley thanked the members of the RNC and former President Trump, stating on X, “Thank you to the 168 members of the RNC and President Trump for entrusting me to serve as RNC Chairman. We are already well on our way to making Joe Biden a one-term President, and I look forward to working with every Republican to deliver victories up and down the ballot!”

In her new role as RNC co-chair, Lara Trump is emphasizing fundraising, telling members of the committee, “We have to raise a lot of money, and I have great news. I brought this up here today, because I wanted everyone to know that already I have a check for the Republican National Committee for $100,000 that has been donated as of today, as of these nominations going through. Yeah, we’re starting today folks.”
