During a speech yesterday, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán told supporters that the European Union (EU) wanted to replace Hungary’s national government with an EU “puppet government,” stating during a speech in Budapest, Hungary:

Independent Hungarian politics are unacceptable to Brussels…. That is why they announced in Brussels that they will get rid of Hungary’s national government. They also announced that they wanted to hang a Brussels puppet government around the country’s neck.

Orbán also claimed the EU wants to force Hungary into the war in Ukraine, and replace him with Péter Magyar, a member of the EU Parliament, stating:

We know they want to force us into the war [in Ukraine], that they want to impose their migrants upon us … and hand over our children to gender activists…. We know that they’ve got a puppet government [in mind], the party they want to impose on us.

Orbán has been critical of the Migration Pact immigration policy imposed by the EU, stating Hungary’s opposition in a post on X: “We must scrap the failed Migration Pact and make way for a new policy to #StopMigration.”
