China Drops Hammer on Essential Rare Earths; Trump Vacillates on Tough Tariff Talk
While Trump has been receiving plaudits for his breakthrough on the Gaza War, his actions on China are more and more erratic, reflecting, perhaps, a behind-the-scenes tug-of-war between the China hawks in his administration and the pro-Chinese Communist Party (CCP) globalists on Wall Street, who are desperate to keep open the flow of American investment into the communist nation. On October 9, for example, China unexpectedly tightened export controls over critical rare earths, critical minerals essential to modern electronics, military weaponry, and a host of other applications, the global supplies of which are dominated by Chinese production. This state of affairs has come about not because rare earths aren’t available in North America, but because the United States has deliberately hamstrung domestic extraction for decades in the name of environmental conservation — even as China, which has no such inhibitions, has massively increased exploration and extraction. China’s latest move, designed to remind the United States of how dependent it has become on Chinese largesse, came just weeks before Trump’s scheduled meeting with Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the upcoming APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) meeting in South Korea. The ever-volatile Trump immediately fired off an angry anti-China screed on Truth Social threatening anew to impose heavy retaliatory tariffs on China (the only major trading partner that has so far been spared tariff hikes, incidentally):
It has just been learned that China has taken an extraordinarily aggressive position on Trade in sending an extremely hostile letter to the World, stating that they were going to, effective November 1st, 2025, impose large scale Export Controls on virtually every product they make, and some not even made by them. This affects ALL Countries, without exception, and was obviously a plan devised by them years ago. It is absolutely unheard of in International Trade, and a moral disgrace in dealing with other Nations.
Based on the fact that China has taken this unprecedented position, and speaking only for the U.S.A., and not other Nations who were similarly threatened, starting November 1st, 2025 (or sooner, depending on any further actions or changes taken by China), the United States of America will impose a Tariff of 100% on China, over and above any Tariff that they are currently paying. Also on November 1st, we will impose Export Controls on any and all critical software.
It is impossible to believe that China would have taken such an action, but they have, and the rest is History. Thank you for your attention to this matter!
The market response was immediate and negative, with cryptocurrencies especially hard hit. And by October 13, Trump had already backed away from his latest threat, assuring everyone that everything with China was going to be fine, praising Chinese dictator Xi Jinping as a great leader and tough negotiator, and generally reassuring the captains of industry and finance that he wasn’t going to kill the golden Chinese goose. Business as usual, in other words.
China, by contrast, has been absolutely consistent in its behavior, with its military ramming another Philippine boat in international waters a few days ago, and aggressive preparations for war against the United States and Taiwan continuing apace — even as domestic oppression in response to widespread discontent over the collapsing economy continues to ramp up.
Whether or not there is any truth to recent rumors about Xi suffering a stroke or having lost some power in the run-up to the CCP’s Fourth Plenary Session next week, it is clear that the nature of the communist beast remains unchanged — a fact that Trump and his team had better come to terms with sooner rather than later. Memory Hole: CCP Rewrites History of Flying Tigers, John Birch, and WWII
Speaking of Communist China, the CCP’s propagandists have been operating on overdrive recently in commemoration of the glorious victory of the Communist Party over the evil forces of fascism in World War II. According to the CCP’s version of events, victory over Japan was primarily a triumph of Mao and his Communist forces — with maybe a tiny bit of assistance from American forces. In condescending recognition of America’s plucky contribution to the great Chinese victory over Japan, the CCP has recently recognized the efforts of General Claire Chennault’s “Flying Tigers,” who gave invaluable assistance to Chinese forces. According to the CCP’s English language newspaper China Daily, Claire Chennault’s granddaughter Nell Chennault Calloway has for years been fomenting closer ties between China and the United States, and was in China recently in support of the national commemoration of Communist China’s great victory (in which, we repeat, the United States played a very small but memorable role, according to the CCP. Never mind the more than 130,000 American deaths and more than 200,000 American wounded in the Pacific War against Japan). Calloway told China Daily:
I firmly believe their [the Flying Tigers’] story can still serve as a bridge of friendship. In World War II, Americans and Chinese stood side by side, not as rivals but as partners. That spirit of solidarity left a lasting mark on both nations.
True enough, but there’s a lot more to the story. For one thing, U.S. forces were supporting the government of Chiang Kai-shek’s Republic of China, not the Communists, who spent much of the war fighting against their own people and trying to exploit the Japanese occupation in order to seize power for themselves. Right after the war was over, the Communists murdered one of General Chennault’s own men, Captain John Birch, a Baptist missionary-turned-soldier who first came to Chennault’s attention after he helped to guide to safety a number of American pilots from Doolittle’s raid on Tokyo who had landed behind Japanese lines. Birch volunteered for military service and, because of his command of Chinese, conducted espionage and reconnaissance, often in enemy territory. A few days after the war ended, Birch encountered a group of Communist bandits engaged in destroying railroad lines and confronted them. In response, they shot and killed him, and threw his body in a ditch. That episode, as clear an indication as there ever was of the real nature of the Chinese Communists, was covered up both in China and in the United States, and was left unmentioned in China Daily’s coverage of the Flying Tigers.
But then again, given the minimal role played by the United States in the defeat of Japan, according to CCP propagandists, perhaps the Chinese Communist Party’s oversight is understandable. New Carbon Capture Legislation, Same Old Grift
A bipartisan congressional duo is pushing for a massive federal land grab through new carbon capture and storage (CCS) legislation in the U.S. House.
Utah Republican Blake Moore joins forces with California Democrat Jim Costa to sell out private property owners nationwide with the BECCS Advancement Commission Act of 2025.
BECCS stands for “Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage,” and the legislation builds on Biden’s so-called Inflation Reduction Act, adding additional funding for CCS to the billions included in that massive financial debacle.
H.R. 5597 also proposes adding another layer of bureaucracy to our already bloated federal government. If passed, it will establish a BECCS Advancement Commission in the Department of Agriculture, a nine- or 10-member board comprised of career politicians, lobbyists and subsidy recipients. (So much for DOGE.)
To date, no other congressmen have added their names as cosponsors. But the bill has earned plenty of accolades from those who stand to reap billions in federal largess. Some of them include:
- Arbor Energy, a carbon capture tech company founded in 2022, cozy with Microsoft, and which has already received $7 million in federal funding.
- Elimini, an even more recent startup launched in late 2024 and specializing in BECCS technology, is a wholly owned subsidiary of the United Kingdom’s renewable energy giant Drax Group. In other words, it’s a conduit for American tax dollars to a foreign-owned company.
- The Carbon Business Council (CBC) is a non-profit association whose members hail from CCS circles. It is involved in Elon Musk’s XPRIZE which, at $100 million, is touted as the “largest incentive prize in history,” and aims to fund development of carbon dioxide removal technology. CBC’s executive director, Ben Rubin, is a frequent speaker at United Nations climate conferences and at the World Economic Forum.
“BECCS is a novel technology uniquely positioned to promote wildfire mitigation, bolster economic development in rural America, and deliver much-needed baseload power as energy demand for data centers and artificial intelligence continues to grow,” stumped Moore as he introduced the bill. “This legislation will help us harness new technology to reduce wildfire risks, create good-paying jobs and keep rural economies like ours growing,” Costa predictably parroted.
Wildfire mitigation is a common excuse for gobbling up private land for CCS. Supposedly, man-made global warming is setting forests ablaze to the point of eco-Armageddon. For decades, The New American has repeatedly exposed this hoax; senior editor William F. Jasper notes that “forest mismanagement, not global warming, has created the conditions for the recurring raging infernos: forests clogged with huge fuel loads of underbrush, along with bug-infested dead and dying trees.”
As for economic incentives, carbon capture has consistently failed to meet targets, while companies are awarded taxpayer dollars — self-reporting on the honor system alone — to the tune of $85 per ton captured. Moreover, CCS is proven to be net carbon additive because of the massive amount of energy consumption the technology requires.
Indeed, CCS technology amounts to a classic boondoggle, both unnecessary and ineffective — unless you’re a land speculator masquerading as a congressman with a moral cause. Then it’s very useful. — Rebecca Terrell
Trump FDA Approves Generic Abortion Pill. What About Pro-life Promises?
Chemical abortions are now easier to obtain than ever, thanks to a recent ruling by Trump’s U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The agency approved a new generic version of mifepristone, popularly known as RU-486 or the “abortion pill.” It’s produced by Virginia-based Evita Solutions, LLC, and is the second generic version of the drug allowed in the United States.
Pro-life groups and some GOP leaders have condemned the approval as a “betrayal” on the part of the Trump administration. “FDA had promised to do a top-to-bottom safety review of the chemical abortion drug, but instead they’ve just greenlighted new versions of it for distribution,” tweeted Missouri Republican Josh Hawley.
Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. answered on social media: “@US_FDA only approved a second generic mifepristone tablet because federal law requires approval when an application proves the generic is identical to the brand name.” But he vowed that the agency is in the process of reviewing health risks of the drug — a smokescreen promise made by the Trump administration considering plentiful and damning research already available, as we’ll see below.
Between half and two-thirds of abortions in the United States are medication-induced, according to the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute, and RU-486 is the most commonly used product in chemical abortions.
In a wildly contentious ruling, FDA first approved the drug in the year 2000. Opponents argued that the agency had not sufficiently monitored deaths and adverse events associated with mifepristone.
Six years later, a government reform subcommittee investigated an alarming number of deaths and severe adverse effects in otherwise healthy women. Members noted that post-marketing safety monitoring by the FDA was extremely poor.
“It is very clear that there is a serious problem with RU-486,” said then-U.S. Representative Mark Souder (R-Ind.), who chaired the subcommittee. “In failing to address this problem by disguising it, ignoring it, minimizing it, or causing confusion is a shameful failure for anyone with the ability and desire to protect women from needless harm.”
Perhaps Secretary Kennedy could save time and taxpayer dollars by reviewing the 2006 subcommittee findings. He might also consider that in the previous year — 2005 — the Annals of Pharmacotherapy sounded the mifepristone alarm loud and clear, noting dire “allergic and fatal septic reactions” associated with the product. Researchers also criticized the FDA’s adverse event reporting system as inadequate and called for a fetal registry “to track birth defects in mifepristone survivors.” That has never been established.
The same journal reported in 2006 that mifepristone can cause rare bacterial infections, and it again accused the FDA of “gross deficiency” in adverse-event monitoring.
Nevertheless, after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2024, President Joe Biden’s FDA responded by removing the rule that a woman must see a physician in person to receive the drug. As a result, Planned Parenthood brags that women “can get the abortion pill from a doctor, nurse, [or] health clinic,” and may be able to get it “for free or low cost.” Businesses such as Hey Jane offer telehealth visits in which women may obtain a prescription from a physician and receive abortion pills by mail.
Thus does the federal government circumvent state laws intended to protect women and their unborn babies. By making the drug so easy to obtain, the FDA’s reckless approvals also aid and abet human traffickers and abusers, who can force their victims to undergo unwanted abortions. And no matter the narrative, the abortion pill is anything but “safe and effective” — its purpose is to kill.
Mifepristone starves the developing baby to death, and misoprostol — a companion drug — causes contractions so the mother delivers her dead baby a short time later. Sometimes, the baby is still alive when she delivers, and the mother is forced to watch her child endure a slow, painful death.
However, both drugs are life threatening not only to the baby, but to the mother as well, especially when self-administered outside of the care of an attending physician.
In fact, mifepristone carries a “black box” warning — the strongest measure in the FDA arsenal short of pulling a drug from the market. The warning notes serious and sometimes fatal infections and bleeding in mothers. Misoprostol adds to the risks, as it can also cause uterine rupture and dangerous bleeding.
Moreover, “symptoms of a ruptured ectopic pregnancy are exactly the same as the symptoms of a medication abortion,” said Dr. Christina Francis, CEO of the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists. In an interview with The New American, she explained that ectopic pregnancy, which occurs in one out of every 50 pregnancies, is a life-threatening complication in which the fertilized egg implants and begins to grow outside the uterus. This condition is always fatal for the baby, and can be for the mom if not caught in time. In fact, it is a leading cause of maternal mortality in the first trimester.
Women who self-induce medication abortion can easily mistake their abdominal pain and vaginal bleeding — symptoms of a ruptured ectopic pregnancy — for the expected side effects of the abortion pill. “If they don’t seek help immediately, they could die,” warned Francis.
“Regardless of where you stand on the issue of abortion, you should be opposed to women receiving these medications without an in-person visit,” she pointed out. Indeed, we should all oppose any woman or baby receiving such poison. — Rebecca Terrell
Radical Leftist to Replace Governor Newsom in California?
California’s 2026 gubernatorial race has become a battleground for radical leftism, with former U.S. Representative Katie Porter (D-Calif.) pulling ahead in early polls — leading with 18-percent support as of August 2025.
Porter started her campaign for governor on March 11, 2025. In her announcement, she criticized President Donald Trump:
I first ran for office to hold Trump accountable. I feel that same call to serve now, to stop him from hurting Californians. In Congress I held the Trump administration’s feet to the fire when they hurt Americans. As Governor I won’t ever back down when Trump hurts Californians.
Digging deeper into Porter’s far-left roots as detailed on KeyWiki, she’s a protégé of U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), a member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, and co-sponsor of the Medicare for All Act. During her time in Congress, Porter’s activism included “anti-fascist” criticism of Florida laws, pleas to lift sanctions on Cuba’s communist regime, calls for unrestricted abortion, LGBTQ activism, and opposition to resolutions condemning Stalin and Mao’s atrocities.
Pro-abortion political action committee EMILY’s List endorsed Porter on October 6, claiming in its press release, “As governor, Katie Porter will fight tirelessly to protect Californians from Trump’s dangerous policies and lower costs for the state.”
In the hours following the announcement, a leaked video of Porter exposed an unhinged outburst directed at a staffer during a video call where she shouted, “Get out of my f***ing shot!” — confirming past reports of her abusive reputation. Additionally, a recent interview with CBS News correspondent Julie Watts also went viral where Porter threatened to leave mid-interview, stating, “I don’t want to keep doing this, I’m gonna call it, thank you,” drawing bipartisan mockery and eroding her poll lead.
As The New American warned, this “rage-a-holic” risks unleashing her fury on 39 million Californians through policy that endangers American citizens. Court documents from her 2013 divorce show a pattern of domestic terror, with ex-husband Matthew Hoffman claiming his ex-wife had a “history of snapping and screaming,” including incidents where she allegedly dumped scalding mashed potatoes on his head in 2006, shattered a glass coffee pot that lacerated him in 2012, and clawing her own arms to frame him.
Porter’s abysmal lifetime Freedom Index score of just eight percent earned during her time in Congress exposes her unrelenting opposition to the U.S. Constitution. If it wasn’t for her allegiance to the Democratic Party, Porter’s explosive temper would have already disqualified her. Her rage-fueled outbursts, leftist ideology, and anti-constitutional record promises a governorship far worse than California’s current Governor, Gavin Newsom. Armed Citizens Stop More Shootings Than FBI Admits
According to analysis by the Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Active Shooter Reports from 2014-2024 deliberately undercounted incidents where armed citizens stopped mass shootings. The CPRC reported armed citizens stopped 36 to 62.5 percent of active-shooter incidents, far exceeding the FBI’s claim of 3.7 percent. This active-shooter study exposes a Deep State effort within the federal government to erode rights protected by the Second Amendment.
The FBI’s narrow reporting requirements exclude cases where armed citizens presented a firearm without firing, misclassifies volunteer guards as “professionals,” and ignores broader defensive gun uses (DGUs). Criminologist Gary Kleck’s landmark research in the early ’90s estimated 2.2-2.5 million annual DGUs, yet the FBI ignored facts to protect the gun-control narrative. Complicit globalist media outlets such as CNN, MSNBC, The New York Times, and the Associated Press echo the FBI’s spin with headlines like, “Rare in US for an active shooter to be stopped by bystander.”
This intentional suppression on crime statistics from a Federal law-enforcement agency undermines the God-given right of self-defense, and the constitutionally protected right to keep and bear arms. EU to “Crack Down” on Member Nations’ “Anti-LGBTQ+ Laws”
The European Union is pledging to crack down on its member nations’ laws that uphold traditional marriage and biological sex. Politico reports:
[European Commissioner for Equality Hadja] Lahbib on Wednesday [October 8] presented the LGBTIQ+ Strategy for 2026-2030 to combat growing attacks against members of the community. “It seems we are moving backwards,” she said, adding that this is a “worrying trend.”
Half of EU countries currently have a national strategy for LGBTQ+ equality, and eight countries (Belgium, Cyprus, France, Germany, Greece, Malta, Portugal and Spain) have banned conversion therapy, with the Netherlands discussing following suit….
As part of its new strategy, which is not legally binding, the Commission wants to focus on tackling hate speech against LGBTQ+ people, both online and offline, and will be coming up with a plan to combat cyberbullying. The Commission is also considering drawing up a law to harmonize the definition of online hate offenses….
“The Commission will not hesitate to take further action,” including going to court, to protect people’s rights, Lahbib said, adding that there are 10 ongoing infringement procedures against Hungary for violating EU fundamental rights. The Commission has also frozen €18 billion in EU funding for Hungary as a result of these breaches.
This development illustrates the dangers of supranational organizations such as the European Union. Originally established in 1952 as the European Coal and Steel Community — an economic union, though its founders ultimately intended to implement a full-fledged federal state — the EU has massively expanded its power as the expense of its member nations’ independence.
Today, in addition to having a common currency, centrally controlled trade policy, and open borders, the European Union can unilaterally veto national budgets and sanction or take legal action against countries that fail to comply with its demands — including those that refuse to adopt culturally Marxist “LGBT” policies. The EU can take these actions regardless of what its member nations — or their citizens — think.
There exists a similar push to create a North American Union via the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement. Congress must reject such efforts, withdraw the United States from all international organizations, and boldly protect American independence. — Peter Rykowski
Government Shutdown Enters Third Week as Democrats Demand ObamaCare-subsidy Extension
The government shutdown has entered its third week as Democrats and Republicans continue to disagree on how to fund the federal government. As of Wednesday, Democrats have voted down the GOP’s proposed continuing resolution nine times. Meanwhile, Republicans are attempting to pass full-year funding bills for certain federal agencies (including the Department of Defense) to relieve pressure to make a broader deal.
Amid these legislative squabbles, Chris Jacobs, writing for The Federalist, provides an overview of the broader fiscal picture:
All told, CBO concluded that the budget deficit in the most recent fiscal year exceeded $1.8 trillion, a mere $8 billion (less than a fraction of 1 percent) less than in fiscal 2024. There were various timing shifts underlying those numbers; both revenue and expenses normally paid in fiscal 2023 got shifted into fiscal year 2024, which slightly alters the comparisons between fiscal 2024 and fiscal 2025 (the year just concluded)….
As usual, revenues continued to grow last year when compared to 2024, due to both increased withholdings — a “reflection of rising wages and salaries” — and tariff income. But spending kept pace with the increased revenues….
Of particular note: The categories where spending declined represent one-time savings from 2025 compared to 2024 — the savings occurred once but likely will not happen again. By contrast, most of the areas where spending increased represent ongoing liabilities — spending for these programs escalates higher every year. That’s a recipe for a worsening fiscal situation, not a balanced budget….
Into this fiscal chaos step congressional Democrats, who shut down the government to demand a permanent extension of the enhanced Obamacare subsidies. Despite CBO and others concluding that these subsidies are plagued with fraud, and the inability of Congress to pay for the spending it has already authorized, Democrats want to put another $350 billion (plus interest) on the national credit card to create another perpetual giveaway.
Over and above the fact that the subsidies go to plans that cover abortion and transgender medical experiments that many Americans find objectionable, there are many reasons — nearly 38 trillion of them — not to vote for the subsidy extension. Congress should stop this insanity and quit spending money that it and the American people don’t have. [Emphasis in original.]
Although fraud and fiscal irresponsibility are sound reasons for opposing continued ObamaCare subsidies, the best reason is that they are blatantly unconstitutional. Article I, Section 8 grants Congress only certain limited, enumerated powers — Congress is prohibited from legislating on all other matters. Accordingly, since Congress doesn’t have the power to enact healthcare subsidies, they are unconstitutional and must be opposed.
Much more than just ObamaCare subsidies should be opposed, however — the vast majority of all existing federal agencies and programs are unconstitutional. Urge your U.S. representative and senators to uphold constitutional principles by slashing all federal spending not explicitly authorized by the U.S. Constitution.

Japanese Govt. Coalition Falls Apart as Conservative Eyes Premiership
Japan faces uncertainty following conservative Takaichi Sanae’s election as president of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and seeks election as the country’s prime minister.
On October 4, Takaichi won an election to lead the LDP, replacing Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru, who resigned after the party suffered poor election results. While Ishiba is politically moderate, Takaichi is described as “a populist conservative whose policy outlook on economics and immigration has been compared to former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher — her self-described “role model” — and current U.S. President Donald Trump.” She strongly emphasized limiting migration to Japan before and during her leadership campaign.
Takaichi’s path to becoming Japan’s head of government received a speedbump when Komeito, a Buddhist-oriented party, ended its 26-year coalition agreement with the LDP, citing disagreements with Takaichi’s immigration stances, among other issues. Since the LDP lost its majority in Japan’s House of Representatives last year, it now needs to find support from the opposition in order to elect Takaichi — a task complicated by opposition parties’ negotiations on forming a “united front” to elect their own prime minister — and she has already held coalition talks with the moderately conservative Innovation Party. The exact election date has yet to be announced.
What are the implications? It is revealing that Takaichi has met so much opposition from Japan’s political elite — to the point that the LDP-Komeito coalition fell apart — something her more moderate leadership opponents would not have received. Although Takaichi is politically conservative by Japanese standards, the LDP — which has ruled Japan nearly continuously since its founding in 1955 — is not. According to Professor Toshimitsu Shigemura of Tokyo’s Waseda University, “Right now, the LDP does not have a political philosophy. It is simply trying to survive.” Indeed, the party has adopted multiple positions that contradict limited-government principles, including support for “net zero” emissions by 2050.
Takaichi has an opportunity to push both her party and country in a conservative direction — but this hinges on whether she can secure election as prime minister.

World Council for Health: Experts Take on the Autism Crisis and Vaccines
The World Council for Health (WCH) recently broadcast a livestream entitled “THE AUTISM EPIDEMIC: What Can We Do to Help the Children?”
The speaker lineup included Dr. Andrew Wakefield, who as a gastroenterologist at London’s Royal Free Hospital in the 1990s lost his job after identifying a possible connection between vaccines and autism. Also appearing was Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride, an expert in gastrointestinal flora and fauna, and mother of a fully recovered autistic son. Biophysicist Dr. H.C. Andreas Ludwig Kalcker rounded out the speaker list.
Wakefield began by presenting evidence that vaccines accomplish the opposite of their purpose by actually reducing immunity. He also exposed proof of statistically significant rates of allergies and other autoimmune and chronic health conditions associated with vaccines.
Campbell-McBride connected autism with gastrointestinal health and lectured on GAPS (Gut and Psychology Syndrome). It is a nutritional protocol that acknowledges the abuse our intestines endure from chemicals, synthetic hormones, and antibiotics that we consume. Pathogenic microbes can then leak from the damaged gut into the bloodstream and adversely affect the brain. She advocates a GAPS nutritional protocol to “heal and seal” the intestinal wall and testified that the diet works for other chronic diseases.
Kalcker introduced astonishing evidence that the gas chlorine dioxide safely neutralizes inflammation in the body. He offered multiple success stories to back up his claims.
