Border agents apprehended almost 80,000 illegals at the southwest border with Mexico in January, the latest data from U.S. Customs and Border Protection show.
The latest surge is a six-percent increase over December’s, and nine-percent more than October’s. Fiscal 2021 began on October 1.
The total apprehended since that first month, nearly 300,000, is well more than half of the total for all of fiscal 2020, confirmation that illegals know the border is open and Biden will not deport them. At the rate agents are apprehending illegals now, close to one million will have entered by year’s end on September 30.
But the Biden Rush to the border isn’t the only bad news.
As promised, Biden has resumed the ill-considered catch-and-release policy that forces border agents to release illegals to disappear into the country on the flimsy promise they will return for an immigration hearing.
And catch and release isn’t just ill-considered. Biden might be releasing hundreds if not thousands of Chinese Virus carriers who could spread the virulent Asiatic pathogen across the Southwest.
In other words, Biden’s policies could kill thousands of Americans who contract the virus and have serious comorbidities.
The Numbers
Border agents have apprehended 296,259 illegals since October 1, the data show.
Of those, 284,409 were caught jumping the border; 11,850 were inadmissibles stopped at ports of entry.
Of the border jumpers, 244,053 were single adults.
For December, the total was 78,323; 75,198 jumped the border, while 3,125 were inadmissibles.
The numbers portend another wave of illegals who know they can’t and won’t be removed, thanks to Biden’s open-border policies. Biden has revoked nearly every one of his predecessor’s sensible border mandates.
By this time last year, agents had apprehended 165,123 illegals. This year’s first four months — again, almost 300,000 were caught — nearly doubled that figure.
If the daily rate holds up through the end of the year in September, agents will have caught some 880,000.
In fiscal 2020, because of President Trump’s tough policies and the Chinese Virus, the number of apprehensions dropped to almost half of what they were in fiscal 2019. That number was nearly one million.
Biden’s Order
Last week, Biden revoked Trump’s policy that stopped catch and release, as Fox News reported.
“Per longstanding practice, when long-term holding solutions aren’t possible, some migrants will be processed for removal, provided a Notice to Appear, and released into the U.S. to await a future immigration hearing,” an immigration official said. “As the administration reviews the current immigration process, balancing it against the ongoing pandemic, we will continue to use all current authorities to avoid keeping individuals in a congregate setting for any length of time.”
The problem, of course, is that “migrants” — leftist code for illegal aliens — could carry the Chinese Virus and spread it to unsuspecting Americans, Fox reported:
The move has raised two concerns. Unlike those arriving at airports from abroad, illegal immigrants do not arrive with a negative COVID test and CBP does not test unless symptoms are obvious. So even though officials know nothing about the migrants’ travel or medical history, they’re being dropped off at the nearest bus station and could be spreading the virus.
“Federal officers are not doing any COVID testing for immigrants coming across,” said McAllen City Manager Roy Rodriguez. “So we actually reached out to the state of Texas, to the governor’s office. And they quickly sent us thousands of test kits so that we could supply the charity taking these people in.”
Thus has Biden not only dumped illegals and injected communities with thousands of potential Chinese Virus carriers, but also saddled state and local taxpayers with the burden of testing them.
Biden’s order that stopped deportation has invited lawsuits from Texas and Arizona.
A federal judge issued a nationwide injunction that temporarily blocks the seditious mandate.
If the courts don’t stop Biden, Americans must prepare for an illegal-alien carried contagion that could kill thousands.
