Amid massive public opposition and behind-the-scenes globalist scheming, the new regime in Ukraine took a major step toward surrendering the nation’s sovereignty to the Brussels-based European Union super-state. In exchange for giving up self-government and independence to the unelected, perpetually expanding EU bureaucracy that now dominates policy across the 28-member bloc, Ukraine will be able to sell its exports without paying tariffs. Meanwhile, armed conflict continues to rage across wide swaths of Eastern Ukraine as the death toll rises.
As part of the far-reaching scheme between Kiev and Brussels, known as the “Association Agreement” and the “Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area,” Ukraine’s economy and society are set to be radically restructured under the supervision and dictates of so-called “eurocrats.” The avalanche of regulations and decrees coming from the EU will also be imposed. The Ukrainian people, as with other peoples under the thumb of the EU, will have little say in the process.
Unsurprisingly, the establishment and the rulers of Ukraine and Europe celebrated the plot. The self-styled “president” of the EU, Bilderberg operative and unelected “global-governance” monger Herman Van Rompuy, for example, claimed the agreements with Ukraine are “milestones in the history of our relations and of Europe as a whole.” Speaking at the signing “ceremony” in Brussels, Van Rompuy, who regularly calls for “convergence” with Moscow, also claimed that people in Kiev and elsewhere “gave their lives for this closer link to the European Union.”
In reality, of course, even Western polls going back to the start of the foreign-backed uprising in Ukraine showed significantly less than half of the public supported closer ties to the sovereignty-destroying super-state. Other surveys of the population suggested that even fewer backed the EU agreement, despite fiendish globalist efforts to portray the sole options for Ukraine as oppression from Moscow or Brussels. However, as with virtually everything about the emerging regime in Brussels, the voice of the people matters little — indeed, EU “integration” has itself taken place largely in direct defiance of voters.
Ukrainian “President” Petro Poroshenko, meanwhile, claimed while signing the thousands of pages of “agreements” last week in Brussels that June 27 was “maybe the most important day for my country after independence day” in 1991, following the supposed “collapse” of the Soviet Union. “All of us would have wished to sign the agreement under different, more comfortable circumstances,” he added. “On the other hand, the external aggression faced by Ukraine is another strong reason for this crucial step.”
The controversial deals with the EU are essentially the same plot that ousted Ukrainian “president” Viktor Yanukovych was set to sign in November. However, under pressure from Moscow, which offered a more enticing “aid” package, the now-deposed former ruler in Kiev backed out at the last moment. With plenty of help from globalists such as George Soros and others at the Council on Foreign Relations, Western-backed forces helped stir up riots and eventually an armed uprising against Yanukovych’s corrupt regime.
Among other elements, the latest agreements will see the EU reduce or eliminate much of the tariffs it currently imposes on Ukrainian goods. Within seven years, if Kiev obeys its masters in Brussels, those trade barriers are set to be all but abolished in virtually every sector. The new Ukrainian regime will have slightly longer — a full decade, and 15 years for the automobile industry — to fully dismantle tariffs on EU goods. Russia, on the other hand, is threatening to add more trade barriers with Ukraine.
As part of the EU-Kiev pact, Brussels is already sending swarms of technocrats to impose its deluge of “standards” and “regulations” on the Ukrainian economy as a condition for access to the European so-called common market. “Any company in Ukraine that now wants to export foodstuffs to the EU would have to comply with these new standards,” explained taxpayer-funded bureaucrat Ricardo Giucci, who is leading a German taxpayer-funded delegation to Kiev aimed at helping the new regime comply with EU decrees. All other exports will also have to comply with EU decrees.
The deal between the EU and the new Ukrainian regime, which still has questionable legitimacy, was signed alongside similar deals between the Brussels-based super-state and the rulers of Georgia and Moldova, two fellow former Soviet states. Despite strong opposition across the bloc, the agreements put all three of the regimes on the fast-track for total sovereignty destruction by potentially allowing them to become full EU vassal states in the future.
In a major exposé of the globalist machinations in Ukraine by The New American magazine in March, senior editor William F. Jasper actually predicted the developments. “Contrary to Russia’s current bellicose posturing, it is in the Kremlin’s interests to offload Ukraine onto the taxpayers of the EU and the United States, and it fits perfectly with their long-term strategy of ‘convergence’ with the EU and the United States,” he reported.
Indeed, the intrigue and deception has become increasingly clear. Under the guise of helping Ukraine stand up to Russian strongman Vladimir Putin, for example, the U.S. government, the EU, and the International Monetary Fund actually sent the Kremlin a multi-billion dollar bailout. Putin himself, despite currently playing the role of anti-Western “villain,” is deeply involved in the ongoing “East vs. West” theater manufactured by powerful globalist forces on both sides of the supposed “divide.”
“Putin’s bellicosity and military response are indeed having the effect desired by the interventionist/globalist elites: Russia’s response to Ukraine’s upheaval is pushing reluctant Ukrainians into the arms of EU/IMF/NATO, as well as providing U.S.-EU-IMF leaders with the political and moral cover they need to ‘rescue’ Ukraine with billions of dollars extracted from U.S. and EU taxpayers,” Jasper observed. However, Putin, “after providing what is deemed an appropriate level of drama, will likely come to the table and de-escalate,” he added. That is already happening.
While the whole drama may seem confusing on the surface, as Jasper and other analysts have pointed out, everything makes far more sense once the ultimate goals — “convergence” and “integration” — are fully understood. As Soviet KGB defector and former deception specialist Anatoliy Golitsyn explained in his two books, the destruction of sovereignty in Europe and the ongoing merger between different regions and nations has been in the works for decades — with full Soviet backing. Western globalists, including Americans such as Henry Kissinger and the bigwigs at the Council on Foreign Relations, are also on board. Former Soviet despot Mikhail Gorbachev even approvingly called the EU the “new European Soviet.”
As all of the agreements between Brussels and Kiev were being prepared, Putin was busy erecting his own super-state with his fellow strongmen. Known as the “Eurasian Economic Union,” the new bloc consists of Moscow, Belarusian tyrant Alexander Lukashenko, and Kazakhstan’s despot, Nursultan Nazarbayev. Putin and the Communist Chinese regime, meanwhile, recently signed major banking and energy deals aiming in part to sideline the U.S. dollar.
On July 1, a ceasefire between supposedly pro-Russian “rebels” in Eastern Ukraine and the new regime in Kiev was suspended by “president” Poroshenko, who ordered his forces to resume “anti-terrorist” operations. Negotiations between multiple governments — French, German, Russian, Ukrainian, and more — are currently working on renewing some semblance of a peace agreement between the warring factions. Putin, though, has reserved the right to use military force to “protect” Russian-speaking people in Eastern Ukraine.
In the end, it probably makes little difference whether Ukraine and its people are dominated by foreign powers at the EU or the Kremlin. Indeed, as the ruling classes in Brussels and Moscow have made abundantly clear, the ultimate goal is “integration” between “East” and “West” into a global system anyway. For the globalists, it appears that the strategy of stirring up manufactured tensions and crises before offering the bogus “solution” has once again paid big dividends. For the people of Ukraine, though, the misery and slaughter unleashed by successive rulers over the last century is unlikely to end anytime soon.
