Not surprisingly, the website is sponsored by the NAACP, Think Progress, Media Matters, and the New Left Media. According to infowars.com: Think Progress is a George Soros operation connected to John Podestas Center for American Progress. Podesta is Clintons former chief of staff. Media Matters for America is the brainchild of a MoveOn consultant and Podestas Center for American Progress. Soros is a major supporter of MoveOn.” In other words, these organizations are connected by more than their disdain for the Tea Party movement.
Accusations of Tea Party racism date back to the time period of the debate and passage of the healthcare reform bill, which inspired throngs of Tea Partiers to make a presence of themselves at the Capitol to exhibit their opposition to the bill, though their demands were ultimately ignored.
For example, prior to the passage of the healthcare law, Congressman Emanuel Cleaver claimed that a Tea Partier spit on him as he walked up the steps of the House office building. Later, it was revealed that the impassioned Tea Partier was shouting loudly at the Congressman, prompting accidental spittle to exit his mouth. In the video (below) that was later released, it became clear that if the Tea Partier had indeed spit on Cleaver, he would have likely been arrested by the U.S. Capitol policewoman standing at the scene.
Another often-touted example of Tea Party racism is the claim that Congressman John Lewis was called a n***** by a Tea Partier as Lewis was entering the Capitol building. However, no evidence was produced to corroborate Lewiss story, even though there were hundreds of witnesses present to substantiate the claim, as well as journalists and video cameras. Tea Party coordinator Andrew Breitbart went so far as to offer a monetary award to anyone who could produce evidence of Lewiss claims, but still, none was found.
Despite the lack of racist evidence, the NAACP targeted the Tea Party movement during its 101st convention, when NAACP delegates voted on a resolution that called for all people of good will to repudiate the racism of the Tea Parties, and to stand in opposition to its drive to push our country back to the pre-civil rights era.
Tea Party Tracker consists of a number of blogs posted by the sites sponsors, most of which focus on conservative pundit Glenn Beck. Such blogs include T-Shirt from 8/28 Rally that accuses a man at Glenn Becks Restoring Honor rally of racism for wearing a T-shirt which reads, Blacks own Slaves in Mauritania, Sudan, Niger, and Haiti, despite the truth of the shirts claim. Another similar blog entitled Political Rally or Not? We Report, You Decide addresses Becks Restoring Honor rally and takes painstaking measures to prove the rally was in fact political, though all evidence tells otherwise.
Tea Parties across the nation have amassed large groups of followers and spectators. Such large numbers certainly increase the probability of the presence of a less-than-reputable individual. However, it is difficult for one to determine whether an alleged Tea Party racist is a true member of the Tea Party movement or a self-described Tea Party crasher, one who pretends to be a Tea Partier but behaves offensively or strangely so that he or she may discredit the movement with which they are found.
Crash the Tea Party movement, an organization fronted by Jason Levin, conceived the idea in order to push the Tea Party movement farther from the mainstream. As an example, Levin explained, Every time we have someone on camera saying that Barack Obama isnt an American citizen, we want someone sitting next to him saying, Thats right, hes an alien from outer space!
Tea Party Tracker is just another line of defense against the ever-growing Tea Party movement. Breitbart notes that cries of racism are merely a tactic used by a group that is threatened by the influence of the Tea Party organization. The Left has one trick that it will use again and again when its back is in the corner: shout racist in a crowded country.
Spencer Ackerman, writer for the Washington Independent and member of the notoriously biased JournoList, proved Breitbarts theory. Released letters written by Ackerman suggest smearing Obamas opposition by labeling them as racist. Ackerman wrote, Take one of them Fred Barnes, Karl Rove, who cares and call them racists. Ask: why do they have such a deep-seated problem with a black politician who unites the country? What lurks behind those problems? This makes them sputter with rage, which in turn leads to overreaction and self-destruction.
If racism were the concern of the sponsors of Tea Party Tracker, groups like the SEIU and New Black Panthers would be targeted as well. The absence of these groups from teapartytracker.org indicates that the bull’s eye is set for a single target, the Tea Party movement, proving once more that the Left is growing increasingly threatened by the influence of this movement.
