A St. Louis Grand Jury indicted Mark and Patricia McCloskey on Tuesday on charges related to the defense of their lives and property from Black Lives Matter protesters back in June.

They knew it was coming, as Kimberly Gardner, the corrupt, progressive George Soros-funded circuit attorney for St. Louis, said so back in July. In her statement dated July 20, she announced:

Today my office filed charges against Mark and Patricia McCloskey following an incident involving peaceful protestors on June 28th. It is illegal to wave weapons in a threatening manner at those participating in nonviolent protest, and while we are fortunate this situation did not escalate into deadly force, this type of conduct is unacceptable in St. Louis….

We must protect the right to peacefully protest, and any attempt to chill it through intimidation will not be tolerated.

This is exactly backwards, but it fulfills the overall purpose for which Gardner was installed: to attack the Second Amendment-protected rights of law-abiding citizens who were defending themselves against the impending and immediate threat of bodily injury or death. It involved the principle of “pressure from above and pressure from below,” leading to the desired end, i.e., abrogation of precious rights guaranteed in the Bill of Rights of the Constitution.

The communist backers of BLM know exactly what they are doing and the McCloskeys may be excused from falling into the trap. Only after they had been caught in the trap did they discover that they were merely pawns in the game. Following the hearing, Mark McCloskey issued this statement:

What you’re witnessing here in this case is an opportunity for the government — the leftist government of the city of St. Louis — to persecute us for doing no more than exercising our Second Amendment rights.

Every single human being that was in front of my house [on June 28] was a criminal trespasser. They broke down our gate. They trespassed on our property.

Not a single one of those people is now charged with anything. [But] we’re charged with felonies that could cost us four years of our lives and our law licenses.

There’s no doubt about it — the [leftist] government chooses to persecute us for doing no more than exercising our right to defend ourselves, our home, our property, and our family.

We didn’t fire a shot. People who were violently protesting in front of our house and were screaming death threats and threats of arson … nobody gets charged, but we get charged.

McCloskey’s claim was backed up by the initial report from the police department:

The victims stated that they were on their property when they heard a loud commotion coming from the street. When the victims went to investigate the commotion, they observed a large group of subjects forcefully break an iron gate marked with “No Trespassing” and “Private Street” signs.

Once through the gate, the victims advised the group that they were on a private street and trespassing and told them to leave. The group began yelling obscenities and threats of harm to both victims.

When the victims observed multiple subjects who were armed, they then armed themselves and contacted police.

Not only is Gardner in the pocket of George Soros, she is corrupt to the core. She ran on a progressive/communist platform in 2016, promising to “increase diversity,” investigate alleged wrongdoings by police officers, and expand gun controls.

She has kept her word. In 2019, St. Louis police brought 7,045 felony cases to her office. She dismissed more than 5,400 of them, claiming the police didn’t have enough evidence. That same year she admitted to repeated campaign violations dating back to her time as a Missouri state legislator, including using campaign donations to pay for her private apartment.

In January 2020, she filed a civil-rights lawsuit against St. Louis and the city’s police department claiming she was being subjected to a racist conspiracy. A district court judge tossed her complaint, writing:

Her 32-page complaint can best be described as a conglomeration of unrelated claims and conclusory statements supported by very few facts, which do not plead any recognizable cause of action.… [She] presents no specific material facts, circumstances or otherwise, to show that defendants acted with each other for the purpose of depriving her — or anyone else — of a constitutional right to equal protection.

Her complaint is nothing more than a compilation of personal slights — none of which rise to a legal cause of action.

As far as being a Soros surrogate, she admitted to accepting more than $190,000 from a Soros-backed PAC for her 2016 campaign. She claimed at the time that Soros’ Safety & Justice Committee approached her, looked over her credentials, and opened their checkbook. The committee, she said, “reached out and heard my platform and liked what I was saying about building trust. They said they’d like to support me and get my message out.”

The message is out. Following the protests that ensnared the McCloskeys, 36 people were arrested and charged with trespassing, burglary, property damage, assault, and theft. Gardner released every one of them.

Like so many other Soros-sponsored attorneys holding public office in Chicago, Texas, Mississippi, and Louisiana, Gardner is party to the crime, a part of the war against civil society waged by Soros and other members of the Deep State.

The McCloskeys are having to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to defend themselves against the charges. They have the support of Missouri Governor Mike Parson, who has promised to pardon them if they are in fact convicted. President Trump called the travesty “a disgrace,” while his press secretary, Kayleigh McEnany, said “it is absolutely absurd what is happening to the McCloskeys,” adding that Gardner’s filing of charges against them was “an extreme abuse of power.”

It is not absurd. It is part of the deliberate attack on civil society by people such as Soros who see the Second Amendment as a barrier to gaining control over the populace. In every totalitarian state, private ownership of firearms is forbidden. As Adolph Hitler famously said, “The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subject races to possess arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing.”
