Let the drilling begin. Or, to be more precise, let there be more drilling. The Senate on Monday confirmed fracking pioneer Chris Wright as the next energy secretary.
Wright is the CEO of Denver-based Liberty Energy. President Donald Trump nominated him as part of his larger agenda of unleashing American energy and reducing driving, heating, and cooling costs. Moreover, Trump wants to boost domestic production and make the nation energy independent.
Wright has an undergraduate degree from MIT. He did graduate work in electrical engineering at the University of California, Berkeley and MIT. In 1992, he founded Pinnacle Technologies, which helped launch commercial shale gas production through fracking.
Wright has said that he is “all-in on energy,″ from nuclear, solar, and geothermal to oil and gas. “I don’t care where energy comes [from], as long as it is secure, reliable, affordable and betters human lives.” His passion for energy innovation led him to drink fracking fluid in a March 2019 video.
Biden’s Disaster
Electricity and natural-gas bills increased at least 25 percent between 2020 and 2024. The Biden administration’s irrational and destructive obsession with “green energy” brought great hardship upon the average American. At one point Americans were paying $5 for a gallon of gasoline (residents of California and other states paid more). Gas prices have decreased since they peaked in 2022, but they’ve never recovered to the 2019 average of $2.60.
The Biden administration’s green push was aligned with the globalists’ larger plan to deindustrialize the West by essentially abolishing reliable, cheap energy. If they had it their way, individual transportation would be abolished and most people would be corralled into 15-minute cities.
The deceptively named Inflation Reduction Act was designed to force the United States away from the production of reliable energy under the pretense of combating climate change. Trump has dubbed this the “green scam” and many nations have completely ignored it. The legislation doled out piles of cash to incentivize electric vehicle production, charging stations, and even the carbon-capture pipeline boondoggle so many Republicans now support.
The New American warned as far back as 1992, and numerous times since, that the greenies would eventually make a push to completely ban oil and natural gas in the name of saving the planet. Joe Biden’s presidential installation emboldened the network of power elites in international corporatism and supranational organizations aligned with the United Nations to try and rid the world of “dirty energy.” Biden signed multiple executive orders restricting oil drilling on federal lands, including one just two weeks before Trump’s inauguration. His globalist counterparts in central and western Europe have made further strides.
No Climate “Crisis”
Unlike his new boss, Wright believes in man-made climate change. At his confirmation hearing, he told Democrats he believed climate change was a “global challenge that we need to solve.” He also said he would support the development of renewable energy such as wind and solar power. But he has denied the existence of a climate crisis. He said in a video posted to his LinkedIn account in 2023, “There is no climate crisis, and we’re not in the midst of an energy transition, either.”
Mainstream media’s screeching is a good indicator Wright may be the right man for the job.
“[Wright] has been one of the industry’s loudest voices against efforts to fight climate change,” ABC News claimed after his confirmation. Indeed, the new energy secretary has the audacity to believe “that more fossil fuel production can lift people out of poverty around the globe.”
The Senate approved Wright’s nomination 59-38 with support from eight Democrats, including both Colorado senators. Senator John Hickenlooper (D-Colo.) said, “Chris Wright is a scientist who has dedicated his life to the study and use of energy. He believes in science and supports the research that will deliver the affordable, reliable and clean energy.”
The Energy Department plays a large role in the development of new energy technologies. It oversees 17 national laboratories that conduct research. Wright will join North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, Trump’s interior secretary, as a key player on energy policy. Wright will be a member of a new National Energy Council that Burgum will chair. The new panel will work to establish U.S. “energy dominance” around the world, according to Trump.
