WaPo Finally Admits Biden’s Cognitive Decline in Prevaricating Editorial

In an editorial that is partly honest, partly dishonest, and patently delusional, The Washington Post has finally confessed that President Joe Biden’s cognitive and physical decline was obvious during his debate with Donald Trump on June 27.

Yet the Post also claimed that Biden’s decision to quit the presidential race was “selfless,” even if he was removed from the race by Democratic elites after they saw the debate performance.

The Post further claimed that Biden’s presidency, which installed homosexual perverts and mentally ill “trans women” into positions of power, has been one of “moderation.”

Liberal law professor Jonthan Turley’s take on the Post’s confession about Biden: Now they tell us.

“Selfless Decision”?

After his disastrous debate performance, the Post claimed, “Mr. Biden reluctantly made a profoundly selfless decision: He stepped out of the ring. … Mr. Biden might privately resent Democrats who helped push him off the ticket this summer, though he denied it.”

But Biden’s leaving the race was more than “reluctant.” Democratic moneybags torpedoed Biden after Trump crushed him on June 27, and Biden appeared to have been hauled out of the arts-and-crafts room at the old folks home. Indeed, those elites orchestrated the debate to sabotage their beloved Biden.

The New York Times’ Maureen Dowd put it this way:

Democrat after Democrat who had been close to Biden before conspiring to push him out had to confess to cable anchors that they had not been able to talk to the president, who was sulking in his tent.

Party leaders whitewashed the coup by ornately extolling Biden.

James Clyburn told CNN that Biden had a record “that no president of the United States could ever match.” Pelosi proposed on CBS’s “Sunday Morning” that Biden’s face should be carved onto Mount Rushmore. “You have Teddy Roosevelt up there,” she said. “And he’s wonderful. I don’t say take him down. But you could add Biden.”

Despite the grandiose flattery, Joe, Jill and Hunter were not fooled or appeased.

GOP strategist Scott Jennings told a CNN panel about the affair on Day One of the Democratic National Convention.

“[H]e was bullied out of this race after 52 years of service to the Democratic Party…. And he had to be dragged out by the fingernails.” The Democrats, he said, were “engaging in … theater.”

So also is the Post.

“In Retrospect…”

That aside, the Post was right about one thing — meaning the one thing the leftist, slavishly pro-Biden media never said, backing Biden as firmly as his own advisors.

“In retrospect, Mr. Biden should not have sought reelection,” the Post explained:

The June 27 debate was worse than just a bad night, as the president maintained afterward. The 81-year-old had shown signs of slipping for a long time, but his inner circle worked to conceal his decline.

And so also did Biden’s Mainstream Media Information Ministry.

One would be hard-put to find a bigger lie than the one in the Post’s final paragraph:

Mr. Biden’s most attractive promise in 2020 was to unite a divided nation; his worthiest moments in politics, both before and after becoming president, were those in which he modeled empathy, moderation and statesmanship. That includes perhaps the toughest call he had to make in his decades in politics: his decision to step aside.

Far from uniting the nation, Biden’s Justice Department accused concerned parents who protested at school board meetings about lunatic left-wing policies of being violent extremists.

Biden insulted supporters of former President Donald Trump, appointed sex perverts and mentally ill “transgenders” to high positions in the White House, and invited an invasion of millions of penniless Third World illiterates across the southwest border, then released them to rob, rape, and murder Americans.

None of that suggests a desire for “unity” or “moderation.”

Turley’s Take

All that aside, law professor Jonathan Turley dissected the Post encomium on X and in a column.

“The Washington Post is reporting that ‘the 81-year-old had shown signs of slipping for a long time, but his inner circle worked to conceal his decline,’” he wrote on X. “That is a rather curious and belated observation. The Post leaves the obvious implications unstated”:

… First, Kamala Harris was part of that “inner circle,” something that she is emphasizing on the campaign [trail]. That would mean that she also concealed his decline … denying it publicly.…

… Second, since many were long writing about the decline, it begs the question of the near total lack of interest in that issue by the media, including the Washington Post. Many professed to the public that Biden was sharp as a tack.…

… Finally, there is [the] fact that the political and medical staff at the White House repeatedly denied any decline to the media. Yet, the Post now rather matter-of-factly admits that it was all a knowing lie. Just another shrug and spin in our post-truth political environment.

Turley unspooled those thoughts at his website by noting that the leftist media and pundits vigorously denounced any suggestion that Biden was in severe cognitive and physical decline.

After special counsel Robert Hur disclosed that he didn’t prosecute Biden for mishandling classified documents because a jury wouldn’t convict a “well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory,” the leftist “media pounced and attacked Hur while media figures attested to the President’s acuity and ability,” Turley observed.

And as video circulated of Biden’s obvious dementia, and what was later described as Parkinson’s disease, “virtually every news outlet aired the attack with politicians, pundits, and celebrities attesting that the President was sharp and engaged.”

Turley reprised MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough’s ridiculous claim:

Start your tape right now because I’m about to tell you the truth. And F— you if you can’t handle the truth. This version of Biden intellectually, analytically, is the best Biden ever. Not a close second. And I have known him for years. … If it weren’t the truth I wouldn’t say it.

Right-wing Media Can Never Be Right

Yeah, he would say if it weren’t the truth. Scarborough is just one of the many network talking heads with severe Trump Derangement Syndrome.

But then, Turley continued, came the debate — again, a set-up to force Biden out of the presidential race, which inspired members of the White House press corps to blame “right-wing media” for the dereliction in hiding Biden’s decline.

“While saying that reporters ‘are now expressing regret,’ CNN explains that ‘some members of the White House press corps who have regular exposure to President Biden are now admitting they were ‘turned off’ from exposing his mental decline before last week’s debate in part because of the attention it has got from ‘right-wing media,’” Turley wrote.

Thus did the Post finally admit that Biden is, indeed, a man in severe decline. And most likely, the Post didn’t admit it before because “right-wing media” had been saying the same thing for months.

And the “right-wing media” can never be right.
