An NBC News survey about how the public views Vice President Kamala Harris should surprise no one who has heard her speak in public. Her approval numbers set a new record.
From NBC News:
The number of the day is … 32%
That’s the share of registered voters in a new NBC News poll who say they have a positive view of Vice President Kamala Harris. That’s compared with 49% who have a negative view of her, including 39% who have a “very negative” view.
Harris’ net-negative rating (-17) is the lowest for any vice president in the poll’s history.
Harris has a 49-percent negative rating, with 39 percent of those polled saying they had a “very negative” view of her. This is no outlier, either. In May, the Marquette University poll showed her with an identical 32-percent favorability rating, with a net-negative rating of -26.
The White House, aware that Harris would be no asset in the upcoming president election and instead a liability, asked Biden’s senior advisor Anita Dunn to schedule Harris only in front of audiences that liked her, and only on issues they supported.
In one speech, at a pro-abortion crowd in Charlotte, North Carolina, Harris began with a poisonous “how dare they?”, referring to the Supreme Court justices who returned the issue of abortion back to the states where it belongs.
She added:
This fight is not only about people in one particular state; these extremists plan to take their agenda national. And that agenda, by the way, goes way beyond reproductive rights.
Many of these same folks attack the right to vote, which prevents the teaching of America’s history.
Those who might have been confused over the non-sequitur would most likely have become completely baffled by this one, uttered by the same individual just one heartbeat away from the presidency. Speaking in March at her alma mater, Howard University, she served up this word salad:
So, I think it’s very important, as you have heard from so many incredible leaders, for us at every moment in time — and certainly this one — to see the moment in time in which we exist and are present, and to be able to contextualize it, to understand where we exist in the history and in the moment as it relates not only to the past but the future.
For those confused, please take a number and get in line.
For the registered voters polled by NBC and Marquette University, there is no confusion. They don’t like Kamala, and they don’t want her anywhere near the Oval Office. That puts Democrats into a difficult position: Who will run for office in 2024?
According to that same NBC News poll, 68 percent of those surveyed were concerned that Joe Biden doesn’t have the necessary mental and physical health to be president, and that includes 55 percent who said they have “major” concerns about Biden’s health.
