House Freedom Caucus Chair Jim Jordan isn’t mincing words when it comes to the blatant politicization and weaponization of the FBI.
With Republicans expected to retake the House in the next Congress (even if by a slim majority), Jordan (R-Ohio) is likely to become chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. In that role, he intends to take a deep look at the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s selective enforcement of the law.
During a Wednesday appearance on the Breitbart News Daily podcast, Jordan made clear that a Republican-led Congress will prioritize the investigation of corruption in the FBI and Justice Department, and pointed to a report released by Republican members of the House Judiciary Committee on Friday — a report that contained testimonies from FBI whistleblowers.
“We’re committed to getting after that as aggressively as we can, and doing it in a way that is consistent with the Constitution,” Jordan said. “I will just tell you what our report said, because one of the whistleblowers came to us — and it was supported by others — that the FBI leadership — again, not rank-and-file agents — but the FBI leadership, and specifically the Washington Field Office, is rotted to its core.”
Breitbart further reported:
“That means you’ve got to have a major overhaul, and the way you do that in Congress is you show exactly how bad it was — that’s our job — and then, hopefully, by showing it, that pushes them back and gets them to throttle back all the crazy things they’re doing, and then you have to get a new president who will bring in the appropriate attorney general who’s willing to fix things up and clean things up.”…
“You don’t have this great country if you have a Justice Department that’s political, that is targeting its political opponents and not treating people equally under the law,” he said, “and that, unfortunately, is what we have in a huge way, as evidenced by the record number of FBI agents who have come to talk to us as whistleblowers.”
As NPR reports, Jordan and other Republicans on the Judiciary Committee claim the FBI has been “artificially inflating and manipulating domestic violent extremism statistics for political purposes” as a way of “fueling the Biden Administration’s narrative that domestic violent extremism is the biggest threat to our nation.”
In particular, Jordan and the others are concerned with a joint report by the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released in October that posits that domestic extremists pose one of the biggest dangers to America.
The bureau replied to the accusations from the GOP lawmakers in a written statement, declaring: “Put quite simply: we follow the facts without regard for politics. While outside opinions and criticism often come with the job, we will continue to follow the facts wherever they lead, do things by the book, and speak through our work.”
Of course, the corruption runs all the way to the top. Biden’s attorney general, Merrick Garland, notoriously instructed the FBI to mobilize against parents who oppose critical race theory (CRT) in public schools, citing “threats” against the school-board members and teachers who “participate in the vital work of running our nation’s public schools.”
Merrick not only ordered the FBI, working with each U.S. attorney, to conduct meetings and consultations with local law enforcement to develop “strategies” to address the “threats” — he even went so far as to encourage the public to report the “threats” to the FBI’s National Threat Operations Center (NTOC).
And there have been several other instances of the FBI and DOJ’s apparent one-sidedness. There has been no serious investigation against organizations like Black Lives Matter and Antifa despite their rampant violence. But Since January 6, 2021, arrests of attendees at the Capitol rally have continued even when the defendants in these cases clearly did not commit any form of violence.
Moreover, the raid on President Donald Trump’s private residence at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, shows that no one is beyond the reach of the FBI’s politicization.
Democrats have turned the nation’s once-prestigious institutions into little more than personal enforcers with which to bully, intimidate, and silence the political opposition. The FBI may want us to believe right-wing ideologues are the biggest threat to the United States, but the real danger comes from power-thirsty politicians with no regard for the rule of law.
