The vaunted prisoner exchange between Russia, the United States, and other nations, which culminated in the delivery of two Americans at Joint Base Andrews yesterday, turned into something of an embarrassment for President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

Harris served up another big bowl of word salad. Biden, as he did during the G-7 meeting in Italy, wandered off because he didn’t know where he was.

But that wasn’t all. After Harris delivered yet another bemusing bale of babble, her campaign rewrote what she said to put it in plain English.

Harris’ Mumbo Jumbo

On the tarmac at Andrews, Harris spoke to the media as Biden stood by, seemingly as stupefied by Harris’ remarks as everyone else.

“This is just an extraordinary testament to the importance of having a president who understands the power of diplomacy and understands the strength that rests in understanding the significance of diplomacy,” Harris said without a script.

Not to worry. “Kamala HQ” was ready with a translation into English. On X, the presidential campaign put up this rendition of Harris’ remarks:

This is an extraordinary day and I’m very thankful for our president. This is an extraordinary testament to the importance of having a president who understands the power of diplomacy and strengthening alliances. This is an incredible day and you can see it in the families and in their eyes.

No wonder the veep’s new name is Scamala.

How many staffers a President Harris might need to untie her tongue is unknown. But the job will most certainly require at least one if not two or three, and maybe a couple on call in the wee hours and on weekends for emergency translations.

What Harris really said is of a piece with myriad such concatenations of cryptic comments in the past. She frequently repeats herself, as she did in this message:

The importance of community banks is they are, as they are called, they’re in the community, led by members of the community. They are people who understand the capacity of the community, the needs of the community, the culture of the community.

Jumbled Jabberwocky

Indeed, after Biden quit the race for president and endorsed Harris, X was flooded with video of Harris’ jumbled jabberwocky.

That included this number from her album of greatest hits: “I think it’s very important … for us, at every moment in time and certainly this one, to see the moment in time in which we exist and are present.”

Speaking at the Johnson Space Center in Texas in 2022, Harris sounded every bit the space cadet when she explained what the National Space Council is supposed to do.

“Today, the business of our work is for the council to report on the work that has occurred since our last meeting across these areas,” she said:

We will, today, also discuss the work yet ahead — the work we must still do to continue to move forward. In particular, the work we must do to build a skilled, technical space workforce; to advance human space exploration; and to establish rules for novel commercial space activities.

Asked to explain the war in Ukraine for a radio audience, Harris offered this gem:

Ukraine is a country in Europe. It exists next to another country called Russia. Russia is a bigger country. Russia decided to invade a smaller country called Ukraine, so basically that’s wrong.

Speaking to a CBS reporter on the abortion issue and the U.S. Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision that overturned Roe v. Wade, Harris again repeated herself. “I do believe that we should have rightly believed, but we certainly believed that certain issues are just settled. Certain issues are just settled.”

“We must together work together to see where we are, where we are headed, where we are going, and our vision for where we should be, but also see it as a moment, yes, to together address the challenges and to work on the opportunities that are presented by this moment,” she said in Paris in 2021.

But Harris needn’t worry. Her mantra, which she repeats like a cult leader to her bovine followers, is “to see what can be, unburdened by what has been.”

Leavin’ on a Jet Plane

Along for the ride to greet the prisoners was Biden himself, who is struggling with dementia and wandered off … to get on the plane that delivered the prisoners.

Video shows Harris following Biden to the steps, then watching him walk up and enter the hatch.

“Did he think he was being exchanged to Russia?” conservative commentator Jack Posobiec quipped.

“Maybe he was using the bathroom,” Kate Hyde wrote.

“No one is talking about how Biden climbed onto the jet after the Americans already got off,” another user wrote. “Did he think he was getting on Air Force One?”

Answer: He might well have thought that.

In Italy during the G-7 meeting, he saluted Italian leader Giorgia Meloni, and wandered off in the wrong direction during a skydiving exhibition.

First lady “Dr.” Jill must frequently guide Biden in the right direction, and after his debate with former President Donald Trump, had to lead him down the steps off the stage.

Speaking to Tucker Carlson, Senator Mike Lee of Utah explained that Biden’s cognitive and physical decline are similar to his mother-in-law’s, who died of Alzheimer’s disease.
