Graham: “I’m With Israel”; Send Your Sons and Daughters to Die in Middle East
During an interview about the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran with Fox commentator Sean Hannity, GOP Senator Lindsey Graham declared that he is “with Israel” until his “dying day,” and that he had gone to South Carolina to encourage parents to “send their sons and daughters” to die in the Middle East on Israel’s behalf.
The interview follows a report from The Wall Street Journal that Graham went to Israel “several times” recently to coach Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on how to push President Trump to start a war with Iran. The Journal also reported that Graham met with Israeli intelligence officials.
Graham declared that he is “not with” “antisemites” or “isolationists” who oppose the war.
Graham’s Real Loyalty
Frightening as Graham’s comments to Hannity are, perhaps more disturbing is what the Journal disclosed about his recent junkets to Israel.
During an interview with the newspaper, Graham called military advisors who opposed bombing Iran the “non-entanglement crowd,” and said “betting on Trump’s second term was worth it for the president’s military interventions alone.”
Trump wouldn’t have attacked Iran during his first term because the new president was unsure of the military and the rest of the world. “Second-term Trump has different instincts than first-term Trump,” Graham said, the newspaper explained:
Other Republican presidents wouldn’t have greenlighted the Iran operation either, he said, something that he keeps reminding Trump of.
Graham said that Trump, with U.S. forces having captured Venezuelan strongman Nicolás Maduro and now bombed Iran, is more inclined to undertake further interventions. “That’s something that people don’t understand, how much more confident he is,” Graham said.
In other words, Trump’s “victory” in seizing Maduro emboldened him to embark on a crusade against Iran, a much more dangerous endeavor. The Journal then raised the question, without asking it, of Graham’s loyalties, and whether he might work for Israeli intelligence.
“To help make the case on Iran, Graham traveled several times to Israel in recent weeks, meeting with members of the country’s intelligence agency,” the newspaper reported:
“They’ll tell me things our own government won’t tell me,” he said. He spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, coaching him on how to lobby the president for action. Netanyahu showed the president intelligence that persuaded Trump to go ahead, Graham said.
That news is not surprising. Speaking in Israel earlier this year, Graham said he visits Israel biweekly.
“I just want to say, I feel good about the Republican Party. I feel good about where we’re going as a nation,” Graham told the Republican Jewish Coalition in November:
We’re killing all the right people, and we’re cutting your taxes. [Donald] Trump is my favorite president. We’ve run out of bombs, we didn’t run out of bombs in World War II.… We love Israel.
Iran Is Hitler, Send Your Kids to Die
During his interview with fellow chickenhawk Hannity — a booster of wars in which he has never and will never fight — Graham declared that the fight against Iran is a fight against Adolf Hilter.
“They’re no more normal than Hitler was, so Donald trump saved us literally in the nick of time,” he said:
If we waited another year they would have had 11 nuclear bombs and they would use them.…
I believe with all my heart and soul, if the regime in Iran still stands when this is over, we’ve made a mistake. If they had a nuclear weapon they would use it. They’ve been lying about what they’re doing with their nuclear program. They wanna bomb because they’re Nazis. They’re crazy. They wanna kill all the Jews. And the Jews have been down that road before.
To our friends in Israel, God bless you. I am with you in every way. To all the antisemites, to all the isolationists, I don’t — forget it. I’m not with you. I’m with Israel. I will be with Israel until our dying day. They’re the best ally we could hope for.
But aside from professing his own loyalty to Israel, Graham expects Americans to send their kids to die in the Middle East.
Urging Saudi Arabia and other Middle East nations to “step forward” and fight Iran, Graham said “I go back to South Carolina, I’m asking them to send their sons and daughters to the Middle East.”
Known as Lady G in “LGBTQ” circles, Graham is a childless bachelor. He served in the Air Force as a lawyer and judge.
He is one of a triumvirate of Republicans, with GOP Senator Ted Cruz of Texas and U.S Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, whose principle loyalty is Israel, based on an unfortunate interpretation of the Bible.
“We are commanded to support Israel,” Cruz told Carlson during a calamitous interview:
And we’re told those who bless Israel will be blessed.
Or as Graham put it in August, “if America pulls the plug on Israel, GOD will pull the plug on us.”
Huckabee told Carlson during an equally disastrous interview that Israel is entitled to take control of the entire Middle East from the Euphrates River to the Nile:
It would be fine if they took it all.
